Your own "I was there" moments

I was at Centurion when Kallis made his first double-century and AB scored the fastest Test century by a South African. Even though the bowling was pretty bad, it was pretty great to watch AB smash the ball into a small group of Indian fans again and again.

All the matches will be broadcast on SuperSport (pay TV). If you have the means to stream it online, you almost certainly can afford SuperSport. The issue here is that the (almost free) national broadcaster, who usually shows all home games, won't be showing the matches. According to cricinfo...

Pollock is really terrible at pronouncing the Sri Lankan names.. Hope Kallis is okay, this looks nasty.

Indeed, I've been lucky enough to study at Stellenbosch for the past five years and I still love driving to Paarl and Franschoek, through the mountains and the vineyards. Will visit Boland Park for the first time for the ODI on the 11th, should be fun.

That's the one, the stadium is called Boland Park.

I don't know exactly to what extent the quotas are being enforced at the moment, but Petersen and Prince are both coloured, so it won't be a problem. I'd like to see Petersen get another shot as well, but am happy with Rudolph getting a longer run first.

De Lange wasn't selected for the Invitational XI because of a thumb injury, so I guess they thought carrying drinks for the national team was the next best thing.

Got tickets for the 4th day of the Newlands Test, I'm just hoping the match lasts at least until day 4. Also going to the Paarl ODI, which should be fun.

Heh, to think I almost didn't go to the cricket yesterday. Being there for Kallis's 200 was pretty special, and AB's knock was really entertaining. The celebrations after the 200 - from Kallis, AB as batting partner, and the crowd - were the most enthusiastic I've ever seen. Hopefully...

*Official* - Road to India in South Africa - 2010-11

It's that that unusual, if you look at previous series in South Africa and Australia you'll see that the gap between the Boxing Day and New Year's Tests often is only 2 days. I'll be attending one, maybe two days of the Centurion test and am quite hopeful of getting to the Newlands test as well...

I think Smith delayed the declaration a bit because AB en Morné were going at a good rate, and also because if he had declared earlier, everyone would have been saying that he was a **** for protecting his own record. I hope we can get 20 wickets this time around...

AB now with the highest test score by a South African, good to see Smith applauding him :)

AB  Glad he's having a bit of a hit now.

Yeah, I get what you mean, more people would usually find fault with Kallis's innings than shower him with praise.

Test Match Sofa - the alternative cricket commentary

They did broadcast the SA-Pak ODI on Sunday, at the end they were shouting so much that you couldn't hear what was happening in the match. But it was entertaining nonetheless.

I planned on going to that match, but by the time I got out of class, they had been finished for quite a while...
