WOW !!What a fascinating game !!

The Bermudan women spent most of the afternoon watching the Pakistan-Ireland game...not looking very happy. I hope for their sakes they do better tomorrow. As for the standard of women's cricket, apparantly the Irish team got beaten by an under-15 boys team from a local school in a warm-up...

    A Tribute To Adam Gilchrist

Gilchrist has always been my favourite Australian cricketer by a fair margin. He always looks like he is enjoying every moment on the cricket field, which makes watching him a pleasure. Best of luck to him for his last games.

Official Under 19 World Cup thread

How strongly is the under 19 age limit enforced? I know for a fact that SA Engelbrecht (who is a good friend of my roommate of last year and probably wouldn't respond if you called him Sybrand) turned 19 last year, so I checked out the squads and there are quite a lot of players over the age of...

Poor Boucher...he won't be a happy chap after this game. Great partnership by Pollock and Albie at the end, smacking Samuels all over the place.

    South Africa v England 2009-2010

I don't know where you can find a full list of the fixtures, but the Newlands Test is almost always the New Year's Test, from 2 to 6 January.

Shaun Pollock retires from International Cricket

That's 1995 - 2008 :) Got a nice send-off today, getting carried off the field by his teammates.

New South African Rugby Coach named

I also thought Meyer would get the job, considering what he's done with the Bulls and the regard most players and coaches hold him in. However, the powers that be seem to be determined to 'transform' South African rugby and de Villiers is their choice. That said, I hope he has success, he seems...

She was a Miss South Africa finalist in the 90s, so there's no surprise. If he got rid of those white-rimmed sunglasses, trimmed his beard and grew some hair I imagine he'd be quite a pleasant-looking chap.

Shaun Pollock retires from International Cricket

Sad news indeed. A terrific bowler, a good batsman and a well respected man, on and off the field. I hope he does well in what remains of this final Test and in the ODIs, he deserves a great send-off after all he's done for the country. God bless ya, Shaun.

And it's a good thing they did, because if all three Tests were like this last one, the series would have been boring as hell. Hope Prince can push on and get a century, so he can keep up his good conversion-rate. I didn't like him much at first, but he's grown on me and I now quite like the...

Yes and yes. The West Indies' bowling really is awful, one ball short and wide and the next one too straight. There has been some good balls, but mostly it's been very average. The conditions were good for bowling this morning, but the South African bowlers really bowled well, apart from André...

Team with the most players with the same last name

"It was a close-fought affair which eventually ended in a 31-run victory for, you guessed it, the Patels." Great stuff

    Boucher vs Gilchrist - Wicketkeeping

I imagine if Boucher kept to quality spinners for a period of time, his 'keeping against spin would improve. But yes, at the moment he's no great shakes against spin. Regarding the standing up, he doesn't often stand up to express pace, but he's quite good standing against up to 'slower' pace...

Just a quick question to anyone who has actually held a bat in their hands in the past five years: What is the point of prodding the pitch (gardening)? Is the player testing the give in the pitch, trying to smoothen something, or just wasting time? Thanks in advance.

    Supporting other countries

We had a similar debate on our university network during the Rugby World Cup. It ended with the one side saying that there is no reason why you should support a group of people simply because they were born within the same political boundaries as you were. The other side mainly said "yes...

Smashing innings from Smith, I really hope he can get some form back. Some brutal shots by Kallis as well, love him when he goes on the rampage. I was most impressed with Chris Gayle, though, two great catches and a big grin. And Prince got a well-deserved Man of the Match award.

As it has been said, McKenzie got injured during the test. He probably would have played in the third test if it wasn't for the calf strain he picked up. AB gone, self-destructed.

Earlier on the TV had Pollock coming in for Steyn and Boeta replacing McKenzie for the Durban test. I couldn't catch whether it was the commentators' opinion or some sort of official announcement.
