Same - well not intentionally. I have this very imprecise mouse, and I think once I accidently clicked on a penis enlargement ad. But that was because of the mouse. Not because I need the cream. I was actually looking for extra LARGE underpants anyway, so I don't know why that ad was up...

    Codemasters announce Ashes Cricket 2009

The Legend, just checking, are you actually affiliated with the publishers of this game? Not being facetious, there was a similar arrangement for the BLC07 game, until it ended in some unpleasantness (IIRC) after Mr Pickup's unfortanately very accurate review (wished I'd paid more attention...

New info on Ashes Cricket 2009

Fingers crossed its not a piece of junk like RP07 - I ended up trading that in and play RP05 now when the mood strikes. Read a couple of articles online - the amount of time the developers and reviewers talk about how realistic the stadia will look, and how the crowd at Lord's behaves...

    Clarke's captaincy

Nothing new. Ponting was touted as a future captain before he was in the team. I can't comment on Clarke - there's obviously something about him as a person that sets a lot of people's teeth on edge - I just can't see what it is. But enough people seem to find him objectionable to make me...

Good stuff from Mick on FC. Caro and Hutchy noticeably left all the heavy lifting to Gary and Grant. And after Caro has been sniping at him all year, didn't have the guts to ask the question re his attitude to the media.

For every rose that blooms, a hundred ones wither : Dark side of Indian cricket

The thing about being a kid is that you lack the experience and emotional maturity to cope with the kind of stresses I'm talking about, making them more susceptical. Teenagers' brain chemistry is unusual compared to different ages, and they are prone to not being able to control their emotions...

For every rose that blooms, a hundred ones wither : Dark side of Indian cricket

No-one does it for trivial reasons. No-one. Even if the event that caused it seems trivial, as I suggested, there will inevitably be a stack of other stuff going on, maybe beneath the surface and that no-one else is aware of, but it will be there. I take your point about their family, but do...

Even Laver has the question mark, compared to people like Federer, Sampras, Nadal and Agassi, of playing in a non-professional era when the pool of players was much much shallower. Same argument that is levelled against people like Barnes, Grace, Trumper, and Lohmann in cricket. That said...

For every rose that blooms, a hundred ones wither : Dark side of Indian cricket

The fact that the millions, if not billions, of people who do face serious difficulties in life, and who are not very courageous DON'T kill themselves suggests that that theory is wrong, and there's a bit more to it. I'm not saying it's a good thing, or something we should support, I'm just...

Oh for sure, and his resume as a clay courter was already far more complete than Sampras or even Agassi even prior to this weekend. But in his claim on being the greatest (and tbf to him, HE'S not the one personally making the claim that he is) there's still the issue that there's a player who...

For every rose that blooms, a hundred ones wither : Dark side of Indian cricket

There's normally more to it than a lack of courage however. A lot of people are physically suffering from 'mental' health concerns that make it extraordinarily difficult for them to deal with their situation. It's also pretty rare that ONE event will be solely responsible for someone doing...

Thrilled that Federer won the French - always hoped Sampras would manage it and have bled for him the last few years when (unlike Pete) he looked like he'd be good enough to be almost anyone on clay, but was simply outmatched by the greatest clay-courter of all time. Question however - does...

Now if those baked beans and onion rings have done their work properly, I should be able to make the bat fall off the stumps without touching it.

Did what we had to do against poor old Melbourne today. Love how Brad Dick, after years of being a target of disgust and ridicule (mainly from myself) has suddenly put in two blinders. Hope he can keep something like this form up and actually be AFL-quality for the rest of his career, as...

For every rose that blooms, a hundred ones wither : Dark side of Indian cricket

It's not unique to India however, so an Indian social mindset isn't entirely to blame. As explored elsewhere, including Frith's very good book, despite it being a problem across all society, cricket seems to suffer more than its share of this problem. Very sad stuff.
