Philander ending up in hospital does kind of question why he was selected in the first place, as he clearly was nowhere near 100% fit. For what it's worth I'd bat again here if I was Root. Put more overs in the SA attack's legs and aim for a 500 run lead or close to that.- marc71178

Which is well and good but because they're all multi-faceted players we then end up with either 6 bowlers or a specialist bat very low in the order. I guess the best option may be to pick a specialist glovesman who can bat 8 or lower?- marc71178

The only way Stoneman is coming in is in place of Jennings so it will probably happen sooner rather than later as Hameed needs to regain his form. I doubt it'll make much difference though, all much of a muchness.- marc71178
