I won't have to work for the best part of half an hour.

Oh yeah! Alastair Cook plays a pull-shot. Maybe I get carried away, but he did so with the authority of a man in form! And to confirm he too feels he is back in form, he flashes wildly to the next delivery!

To me, dropping Broad seems an abject absurdity

Whatever happens next, Ian Bell will come in in a situation where he has an opportunity to take the game away form his opponents, rather than being a need to save England's innings. Last time England lost its 2nd wicket with about 200 runs on the board is over 2 years ago.

That's an expression I need to remember!

Slip catches, apart from top edges that balloon into the air, are hardly ever sitters. Sure enough, chances like Jadeja's are taken more often than they are wasted, but not even the best slip fielders take 'm all. Which makes me wonder: are there any good statistics on succesful slip catch...

Lol at Cook's expression during his desperate running.

Though I agree, it doesn't mean it would be right to overturn this one.

England's first 50 opening partnership of 2014, right?

Just this innings. The fact you wonder confirms it is not the best bet one can make..... Though I couldn't be arsed about either India or England to win this series, I do want Cook to perform well. I think it is the only way to get England going anywhere. Which is what this series need.

Call me stupid, but I just put some money on Cook making a ton!

Now, there's a surprise! Ishant injured? Or what?

I think his statement is rather vague. My guess is he didn't exactly see what happened.

A play one Test in Zimbabwe in August, and then will host WI late december. If Piedt has any sort of decent start in the SA FC circus, I he should be picked imho. He looks far more promising than any other spinner of late.

    **Official** Ishant Sharma Disparagement Thread

I would like to see Ishant play in English county cricket. I guess he would benefit a lot from it.

    **Official** Ishant Sharma Disparagement Thread

Howmany bowlers have taken more wickets than IS has at his current age? Can't be too many! His average is rather crappy, but so was Anderson's for a long time. And Sharma has the excuse of bowling a majority of his deliveries in India.

Goog to see he seems really happy with it.

One has to wonder what makes a bloke who hasn't scored **** in his last 10 innings decides to go for a wild pull or hook on his 6th ball.........

The first 100 runs partnership of the Test, right?. Howmany times does that happen on the fifth day? Makes me wonder England have a better shot than most would think.
