Never go back, is the old cliche. Looks like Gatland has quite the job on his hands. Yer Micks look a proper team though; hard to see past them or the French this year.

We also signed Yossi Benayoun from Chelsea on the same day as Mikel and that was probably not quite such a success. But agree on paper Jorginho ticks a lot of the right boxes, even if he is a stop gap.

Got me thinking: the only ones* I could even attempt to make cases for not being disasters would be Gallas (when his bottom lip wasn't wobbling), Welbeck (when fit) & Cech. The latter definitely did his best work for yer Chavs though. *Prem era; Georgie Graham went ok after he moved across London.

Does look to have a surprisingly affectionate relationship with the pies for a seamer, yes. Makes big Vern look like Bruce Reid.

Huge win for the Arse in the context of the season. Great game too; in a moment of weakness I almost felt sorry for ManUre. Nketiah must be pretty close to the next England squad.

    Lies, damned lies and stats, etc, but his save percentages suggest a downward trend: 19/20 - 79.4% 20/21 - 71.4% 21/22 - 71.0% 22/23 - 66.3%

Pretty much how I see him. If Saka or Martinelli get broken he's a definite step up over our other back up options. Quite like us to bring in a defensive central midfielder too. We're more or less reliant on Xhaka and Partey avoiding suspensions and injuries respectively, and well, over half a...

    South Africa team selection

Not currently. As an EU passport holder rather than a Kolpak he could have grandfathered resident rights as a local, assuming he applied under the EU Settlement Scheme before 30th June 21. As he's registered as a local player for Derbyshire (their captain, in fact) I think it's a fair guess he...

Dunno. It's pretty standard practice for executives to have non-compete clauses put into their payoff T&Cs, isn't it? & I don't think he's suddenly become a bad coach, his spell with was just dwindling into ever decreasing circles and had probably reached a natural (save the pending WC) conclusion.

If Eddie coaches the wobblies to a world title the RFU's decision to sack him without a clause preventing him from taking over another country before the WC is going to look pretty silly.

    ATGs and WWII

Some of his confreres (notably Flying Officer Keith Miller of the RAAF) were a little unconvinced of the severity of his ailments though, weren't they? Jack Fingleton (not Bradman's closest buddy, it must be said, but anyway) related a (possibly apocryphal) story that during the 1948...

Draft Game - Fantasy Cricket 2022

Yeah, hearty (if slightly grudging  ) congrats to @CricAddict there's no shame in losing to the better man. & massive kudos to @Teuton too. Must be a ballache to administer, but the effort is appreciated! :)

    The Mankad

I heard someone suggest it should be named after the victim rather than the perpetrator, which would make it a "Brown", which is kinda apposite, IMHO. The bowler Browned the non-striker without a warning; the look of shock on his face was priceless.

What a gyp. Babar shaping up to be an ATG crappy captain.

Massively so. It looks like a team has been bowled out in tests in under 15 overs precisely once.
