Greatest All-rounder if captaincy were to be included

There is a school of thought that calls guys like Gilly, Flower and Dhoni, who would be selected purely as batsmen, allrounders.

Greatest All-rounder if captaincy were to be included

Keith Miller played in the VFL as well. Bloody freaks.

Greatest All-rounder if captaincy were to be included

Armstrong. Aussie cricket then was as dysfunctional as Pakistani cricket in Imran's time. Armstrong averaged near forty with the bat pre-WW1, and was a very effective leg spinner as well. Plus he had an 80% winning record as captain and drew the other 20%. He never lost a test as skipper and...

    Pre-War Cricket Draft

Bugger. You got zac/me taking Constantine twice btw. I took Armstrong last round.

*Official* Road to the 2010/11 Ashes

The umpires have some compassion for keepers and would have called several of Mitch's efforts wides rather than byes.

    WOW...This website need a change

And there was an "official" Australia in decline thread made for precisely that reason as well - ilovecric's post could have been moved there as an alternative. Suggest people go use that thread if they want to make posts with startling insights such as "i've been doing some research and can...

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

Early debuts - like Hughes? Like Smith in the limited overs stuff? Facts and rhetoric not matching up here.

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

Kinda of forgetting the near decade in the wilderness both Martyn and Hayden spent in the wilderness after the selectors "took a punt" and they came a cropper.

This Australian slide is worse than WI slide

Someone made fun of my nation-crush.... Waaaaa

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

I think he gives the attack some variety, and I think variety can be an important tool to dislodge batsmen, or to take advantage of the test players out there who are all at sea against spin. Yeah, North can bowl spin, but North is much less deserving of his spot than Ritzy at the moment, so I...

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

To quote your avatar, I disagree. I think Hauritz is much improved in his time in the Aussie setup and that his FC record is pretty irrelevant these days. I'm a fan of Siddle and don't mean my comment as a knock on him, but I'm pointing out that in an equal number of tests, in 30+ innings...

    ***Official*** Tendulkar vs Ponting Thread

In the past six months, it's moved from being pretty line ball to Tendulkar definitely being ahead of Ponting overall IMO. Who would I take at their peak? Both, or either without any regrets if I could only have one. Sachin is amazing. Definitely the number 4 in my all-time XI now as well...

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

    From Cricinfo: Siddle's test record: 17 matches, 60 wickets, 31.53 ave, 3.01 e/r, 62.7 s/r Hauritz's test record: 17 matches, 63 wickets, 34.98 ave, 3.14 e/r, 66.6 s/r Not a massive difference there tbh, especially we're comparing a spinner with a quick.

ICC approves test championship and other changes...

It said that the ICC are examining the issue of qualification for ICC events - you'd imagine that would include some kind of measure to give the Associates some chance to participate.

ICC approves test championship and other changes...

The ODI stuff sounds fair enough to me - although the WC is being made more exclusive, the T20 Championship is being expanded, and that's probably the right venue for associates. Not sure how it will work having a league championship AND the World Cup. Will be like having the WWE Championship...

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

Guess I'm kind of scarred by the Cam White experience who went from being a bowler who could vat a bit to a batsman who could bowl a (little) bit, after he lost confidence in his leggies and concentrated on batting. (and then got selected as a specialist bowler, wtf??). Would be a real shame for...
