    I can't recall a Games where the news items coming out are so negative. Complaints about judging (boxing), village accommodation (no air con), controversial chair umpire over-rules (tennis), poor commentators (***ist and/or ill-informed), postponed triathalon (river too dirty) etc.

    Synchronised swimming, Walking, Rhythmic gymnastics and Dressage all leave me cold. I also see no point in having golf and tennis as the Majors and Grand Slams have far more prestige. Finally, I find it the number of medals that swimmers can win (individual, team, medley and different styles)...

    Statham is always grossly underrated. It probably stems from being in an era when Bedser, Trueman and Tyson were held in high regard and overshadowed his achievements.

    "Then what is your problem with the selection of Redpath over Hughes?" They had equal votes but Hughes had more for the # 4 spot and he batted 51.6% of his innings there compared with Redpath's 10.8%. I am purely talking about the # 4 spot and management's tie breaker which appears to ignore...
