    The MMA/UFC Thread

On July 18, 2018, it was announced that the UFC has agreed in a partnership with Russian Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) where M-1 Global serves as the farm league for the UFC to scout Russian fighters for the UFC and involves in preparation and organizes new shows in Russia. Part of the...

Whether the games are profitable or not, only winning one test match against them since like '93 isn't exactly helping.

Things that sounded like they were going to be a big deal in cricket and then weren't

Peter McGlashan did some interesting stuff like wearing upper body armour and a catcher's mask from baseball. There was also this runout: https://twitter.com/PeterMcGlashan/status/1215411682907844608

Oh, this one is more of a comedy/psychology match. No real violence. Found it on Youtube. Missing their entrances though.

Watching my first DDT event. Literally the second match I watch is called a Fluorescent Light-tube Death Match. But the thing is... the wrestling is really good as well. This ASUKA looks super talented. So far liking it a lot.

It says a lot that CD didn't offer him a contract, and no one else approached him, when he was averaging 70 odd in the Plunket Shield. He must have been a nightmare to work with.

    chris harris was underrated

    Apart from his fielding, the most impressive thing about Chris Harris was his record for Canterbury. FC: 5442 runs @ 57.89 + 126 wickets @ 29.42. OD: 4256 runs @ 44.80 + 143 wickets @ 31.51 - ER 3.75 T20: 449 runs @ 89.80 + 11 wickets @ 29.27 - ER 6.59

I thought that was Richard Hadlee in the second clip for a second, had to check because the player looked similar. It was Dayle Hadlee on his debut. Front arm and head were kept a bit straighter in Richard's action.

Sinclair dropped the ball in early '08 when Astle, Styris, McMillan, Cairns, had left and Fleming was on his way out. Had he done better than a middling performance against a terrible Bangladesh side (where Ian Smith had a go at him on comms for playing over Styris iirc), and a failure against...

    Your favourite nobodies

Luke Vivian is a good one. I remember in the early days of T20 he hit a quickfire 50 odd and the commentators were keen on looking at him in internationals. Seemed to disappear pretty quickly after that though.

I don't know, for Ronda to get into position for her armbars she basically had to get into the clinch and use her judo throws. She didn't shoot much, so someone like Mayweather would always have a few free shots before she even had a chance to do something.

He's just a bit one-dimensional. You can't expect to beat guys of this level with an overhand right every time. If the guy knows what he's doing, there's not going to be many openings, and with basically no kicking game, a pretty weak jab, and **** cardio - it's hard to make that skillset work.

    Stumped!

I've created 'Band of the Hawk' after a significant break from the game. Bit more of a focus on the youth squad than days past. Finding that quite enjoyable, especially with the extension in age range to include 20 year olds. Gives them a bit more time to carve out a career of some sort at...
