    Saeed Anwar vs Sourav Ganguly

Lol, where did I say Anwar > Jayasuriya as an ODI batsman? You’re giving answers to things I never even said. If you're going with the "average against X oppositions" argument, then why did you vote for Ganguly ahead of Sangakkara in the other thread, when the latter scored more consistently...

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Yeah I do agree you still need a few experienced players, especially batsmen, to hold an 'A' or development side together. And best if they're still an outside chance as an NZ backup batter, like Chapman. It's a question of how many spots to spend on that vs giving young players an opportunity...

    Rank them in secondary skills.

I think it's safe to say, of the 6, only Miller, Imran and Stokes would ever reasonably be picked for some combination of batting/captaincy, even if there was no possibility of bowling contribution.

    Rank them in secondary skills.

...In the first, Pakistan never batted. In the second, his foot was crunched whilst batting and he was unable to take the field for the rest of the match. Kapil bowled in every match. Jadeja didn’t bowl in South Africa in a match last year (the one where Siraj destroyed them in the first innings)

Michael Vaughans 02/03 Ashes v Ian Bells 2013 Ashes

no stokes has a contender for the goat test innings in that series but all 3 of bells knocks were match defining.

...them to play an extra bowler or batter. 2. Performance Stats Tests: 55 matches as wicketkeeper, 151 catches, 9 stumpings. Dismissals per innings: roughly 1.46, which is respectable for the era but below elite keepers like Healy, Boucher, or Stewart. 3. Style & Strengths Very tidy and...

Excellent innings by the team. More like we need to play in T20 cricket.

Conway, Nicholls, and Ravindra are the first trio of lefthanders to all score 150s in the same test innings. 3rd time overall for 3 150s in an innings

...second new ball, or a couple before lunch etc. It's the Kallis one which stands out, clearly bowled a lot of overs when they were hoping he would pick up wickets. I wonder if there's a way to break it out through his career, my guess is a lot of those wicketless innings come towards the back...

Franchise Cricket in England Domestic Season 2025

How many more gigs will Williamson get in T20 before everyone catches on that he just doesn't score fast enough anymore? Absolutely wasted the powerplay, even dafter when they have Smith sitting there at 3 twiddling his thumbs. Baker has looked pretty good when I've seen him in this, but it is...

When picking that experienced player(s), obviously it is preferable that there is still a chance for higher honours. Hence why they...

Franchise Cricket in England Domestic Season 2025

...from Warner and Williamson, Williamson at least had the grace not to overstay his welcome too much, but Warner clogged up most of the innings not scoring quickly enough. Very happy to see young England prospects Ben McKinney and Sonny Baker excel tonight, both will at least be in the Lions...

Anderson and Broad are fairly comfortably top of the "most innings bowled in" list, so it's not surprising they're high in the "most wicketless innings" list as well. Perhaps surprisingly, if you only look at bowlers with <200 wickets, the "most innings bowled in" list, 5 of the top 6 (Root...

Was SF barnes a spin bowler or pace bowler?

one of my more favourite stories is of Tony Lock seeing footage of his bowling and being horrified that he did indeed chuck, and taking steps to change his action
