Nice to have eventually receive a few votes. I especially appreciate votes from those not involved in this draft.

    Greatest Touring Batsman to Australia?

I can see why Larry Gomes is included in the poll. His average in Australia (70.33) far exceeds those of Viv Richards (47.57) and Clive Lloyd (48.97). On that basis, I would add Chris Broad (78.25). However, the question is "Who is the greatest batsman to tour Australia?" in which case Hobbs...

    Umpiring stuff

Gave up some years back when I needed a hip replacement. Have good memories and an "Umpire of the Year" award to treasure. A couple of sour points, like consistently being paired with a self-centered idiot on the grounds that, "You are the only one that can keep him under control to avoid...

Should World Series Cricket records be added to Test records or First Class records?

While I agree with most of what you say, there is a younger generation of cricket followers who may not be fully aware of some of the performances in WSC. For example, Dennis Lillee is often underrated when his performances against the likes of Richards (Viv and Barry), Greenidge, Lloyd etc are...

Should World Series Cricket records be added to Test records or First Class records?

The problem with not having them recognised as tests is that many cricket followers overlook these games when discussing ATGs in Test cricket.

    Fast bowling workload

"Also, if you're going to identify issues early in a quick bowler's career, that really means in their mid teens, and how many teenagers are working with elite coaches who are up to speed with all the biomechanics and so on?" This is so very true. I recall Jeff Thomson relating how he taught...

The value of ATG specialist bowlers vs bowling AR's/bowlers who can bat (picking the strongest all time XI)

The section I have highlighted is very true. Just looking at Ashes series, lesser lights such as Massie, Willis and Broad have all had days when they were 'on song' and produced incredible figures. What sets the ATGs above them is consistency.

The value of ATG specialist bowlers vs bowling AR's/bowlers who can bat (picking the strongest all time XI)

While Imran Khan might be an ATG, his bowling peak and batting peak were some years apart. Hadlee was handy with the bat but an average under 30 and only 2 centuries in 86 Tests suggests his allrounder rating is a little high. Having said that, he was truly an ATG bowler. Miller, on the other...

    Birthday Chronology Draft

I haven't listed my team as yet. I mentioned before that I was after The Don but FP trumped me. After that I decided to go for a team where the batsmen (first 6) all averaged over 48 and all the bowlers (5) averaged under 20, To achieve this, some had limited Tests. I failed with one in each...

    ODI Wicket Keeper Poll: Discussion

Looking at the 8 players who received votes yet missed out (Alec Stewart, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Safraz Ahmed, Litton Das, Moin Khan, Ian Smith, Moin Khan, Tatenda Taibu and Ian Heal) plus a couple more mentioned by Fuller Pilch (Jeff Dujon, Rod Marsh) we could possibly have soldiered on to a...
