    Rabada vs Williamson

On a similar note, Imran’s boomeranging in-swingers to get Gavaskar and Vishy out are contenders for balls of the century

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

But a competitive attack can lead to bowlers having lower WPMs individually- more competition among the bowlers. Marshall losing out on longevity vis a vis others agreed, and perhaps that’s why I favour Tendulkar or Hobbs over him in a comparison. But Murali’s overall record in India and...

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

Murali’s case for GOAT is stronger than Warne’s but his lack of a good series in Aus or Ind is a notable problem

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

For me Marshall having a WPM of 6 for a good stretch of matches despite bowling in some of the competitive attacks ever puts as a definite one. He is in the same tier as Mcgrath and Hadlee, but a bit better. Mcgrath and Hadlee are more or less neck to neck, with Mcgrath very very very marginally...

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

He was ATG in Aus for sure, those reasons have been articulated by me, and prior(more eloquently by OS and Coronis in other threads). AB looked pretty good as a keeper and as a bat is miles ahead of Gilly

    Wasim Akram vs Muttiah Muralitharan

Murali was a master at home and nearly everywhere except India and Aus, and atleast had good success against India at home. Plus he has a mountain load of wickets and an amazing peak for a very long time.

    Wasim Akram vs Muttiah Muralitharan

I am rating Murali higher as time goes. If only he had one good tour of Aus, I would not hesitate in putting him in the Marshall-Mcgrath league. However he is only behind Marshall, Mcgrath, Hadlee and Steyn for me(level with Imran and Amby).

Virat Kohli vs AB de Villiers (ODIs)

Revisiting this, ABD could be better given his record vs Aus(strongest team of his time), and his SR(which does reflect in abilities to change the game in ways no one outside Viv could). But he never had as good a WC as Kohli, plus Kohli batted higher

    The Drab 4

Markram easily. Amazing potential evident from the 2018 series vs Australia. Amazing against pace as well as supposed to be great vs spin

    Hashim Amla vs Clive Lloyd

One of the finest players of spin ever, in general. Dominated the quartet and the best record of any visiting player in India.

*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

    Elated for all NZ supporters

*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

Brilliant stuff NZ. Beyond criticising India, firstly the whole NZ team has to be applauded for putting in a magnificent team effort.

England XI vs India XI (since 1970)

Hutton is a massive genius. And just behind Sachin, Hobbs, Viv and Sobers as a contender for the best after Bradman.

*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

    Agree with the second point

Ricky Ponting VS M S Dhoni

Mostly agree but will rate Buttler higher and Babar lower
  16. H

Ricky Ponting VS M S Dhoni

I thought you rated Kohli marginally above Sachin as an ODI bat

Battle of the Most Watchable Players

Massively agree on the second part. Warne himself has bowled better than that
  18. H

Ricky Ponting VS M S Dhoni

Dhoni. Amongst or near the top 5/6. Ponting falls somewhat below that
  19. H

Battle of the Most Watchable Players

Martyn Lara(tho this is insanely close, since both along with Sobers form a holy trinity of sorts with regards to dynamic batting) Holding Laxman(you just need to him batting against Warne in that 281 to understand) Warne(easiest choice) Sehwag Steyn(more versatile)
  20. H

Battle of the Most Watchable Players

Same except Martyn in the first case
