Amazed that O'Rourke's up above 150km/h consistently, think I've only seen him hit about 147-148 at peak before. Seriously quick.

Fairly ambivalent about our better performance here - it's good to (very likely) win, it's muuuch better than losing 3-0, but it's also a dead rubber and shows how many opportunities we missed when the series was live. For arguments sake give England the second test - they played well - but we...

Yeah Rachin should be out there given the state of the match. Maybe O'Rourke volunteered, but it's putting a lot of load on him too - he deserves to have feet up in the sheds right now.

Tbf the combination of a flat pitch and the soft kookaburra 5-10 years ago was just anti-cricket

Dammit Latham, blame the variable bounce but a real nothing shot.

This is good. Though still have to be frustrated that we're putting it together only in the third test. If we took our catches in the first test, especially Brook, could have gone on a roll like this and the whole series could have been different.

Nice to see Santner follow up the India 10-fer with both bat and ball. He really could have played the first two matches this series instead of Southee.

Ooh yeah, Santner vs the guy that struggles with spin

Right - results is all that matters regardless of how the bowler looks. However will be interested how he goes in Australia or somewhere the batters give fewer gifts, if he doesn't lift the pace/zip.

Some masterful plays and misses from O'Rourke this morning

Right, thought someone had posted that he's usually quicker, but couldn't remember for sure. Might be understandable a drop on pace in the third test of a series, but wasn't appreciably quicker in the first two either.

In a partnership of 28 runs without scoring, too. Where's the Southee tribute, Will?

This might be slightly unpopular given England have comfortably won this series, but I don't see that much in Atkinson. Has a great average for his first fifty test wickets, took the hat trick... Gets some seam movement, but it's pretty gentle pace-wise. If he's bowling at 135km/h, like he's hit...

Yes agree, though NZ had England 4 down for not much a couple of times this series already, and couldn't get through the middle order. England's fast scoring diminishes the importance of the second new ball, too. New ball wickets and then Santa to spin England out, I guess?
