    Semi Finals and Final Discussion

I fancy Sri Lanka. South Africa are the best T20 team in the world, but with the 3 M's plus Dilshan, Jayasuriya and Sangakarra all batting well- it isn't a given. South Africa will pwn Pakistan. I think it will be embarassing with only Umar Gul coming out with any credit.

    Raina

Ja, especially being Indian with slow wickets. In tests, he can duck every short ball but I'm sure those in India and Raina himself see the limited overs formats as more of a realistic place for him to play international cricket. 8-) I know it wasn't intentional, but you still take...

New Zealand- could they just win it?

I don't think NZ can win it now. It didn't help that Vettori was injured at the start and Ryder injured for the recent games. Oram and Styris are obviously past it. It's a shame but the Kiwis should probably start to look for long term replacements (though Oram's don't drop off trees).

    Ashes Predictions Thread

Nice thread, I didn't see this first time around. For me: Result: 2-1 England (wouldn't be a pom otherwise. Lol) Eng Runs: Pietersen Aus Runs: Hussey Eng WK: Anderson Aus WK: Johnson P.O.S: Pietersen and the series to be called "Pietersen's Ashes" (originality at it's peak). Surprise...

The stats do not do him justice!

Fair enough and well said. :) I don't mind anyone saying Bradman is the best of all time if they've come to that decision independently. If you've done that then cool. Thanks for the recc. I've read some great cricket books (on the subject of Bradman, the famous "Bodyline Autopsy" by David...

England v W Indies Twenty20 World Cup Oval Tickets

I'm sure the winning bidder would disagree. Lol * Unless they are West Indian of course.

The stats do not do him justice!

There are a number of players who's average flatters them. With Ponting, it helped for a long time being under limited pressure because you have openers by the names of Hayden and Langer before you. It's also not a coincedence Ponting has only got 1,000 run test seasons since batsmen friendly...

The stats do not do him justice!

I didn't say there were batsmen as good as Bradman in his own era, just in eras after his. He's by far the best in his era but the lack of any other 99.94 average batsmen doesn't mean the bowling was good. Don't give me that BS. You seriously need to do some research on the Indian media...

    Brendon McCullum

Most of those could only play for Bangladesh or the West Indies IMO. I think only Mitch would get into every XI in the world from that list.

    Worst ever commentary moment?

Thank god I didn't see it in that case!

The stats do not do him justice!

Yeah definitely. Glad to see we have so many people on this board who have seen Bradman live. Awesome! 8-) Now, back in the real world. How is it not even possible that the best batsman of the modern era be also the best of all time? And is it not possible that the Lara's, Ponting's...

The stats do not do him justice!

If we're basing how good a batsman's average should be on how good a batsmen he was/is then yes. Tendulkar is everybit as good, and better a batsman than Bradman for me. I'm not taking away from Bradman's record and it's astonishing, but I completely disagree with the "he is beyond doubt the...

    Flintoff's bizzare anti immigration rant

You were involved in the debate until page 13, why the change of heart? I don't mind political discussions but I don't see how mods can close a thread after 16 pages when it is obvious from the thread title alone the responses were going to be of a political nature. Surely it's page 1 or...

    The whole of the IPL.

The stats do not do him justice!

Umar Gul is an excellent limited overs bowler. I don't think he is great in the test format imo, though he can swing the ball and is much better now than when we faced him in 2006. I don't know when the next schedule series against Pakistan is, but I'm sure he'll be more of a handful this time...

The stats do not do him justice!

People, Which cricketers that you've seen either live or footage of (surely this subject requires you have seen them! lol) have records which do not do justice to how good they really were/are? I'll do a couple of my lifetime and wait for others to post Gower and Viv Richards' names. Lol...

Your country's 'One Caps Wonders' XI

I thought EM played more than 1 test. Don't know why since it's obviously not true.

Your country's 'One Caps Wonders' XI

Stuart Law is an Aussie who immediatly springs to mind. He was unlucky to be in such an awesome era of Aussie cricket. For us, we've had Amjad Khan and Darren Pattinson. Lol WG Grace's brother (Fred IIRC?) played 1 test for us and that had nothing to do with the fact his bro was WG......

    Brendon McCullum

Boucher is 2nd behind Gilchrist for me all things considered. Since Gilly's arrival on the stage, people assume every WK can bat like a bastard but it's a tough job. Dhoni isn't within a million miles of Boucher as a gloveman and while he has the ability to be destructive in the limited overs...

    Flintoff's bizzare anti immigration rant

Well, you're consistent, so fair enough. :) I'm sure they could've been arrested under public disorder laws but police and government are too scared of upsetting people. That's why nothing gets done in this country. I disagree with everything the BNP say, but the issues they speak about...
