All for top talents learning on the job. Kwena is learning loads in this Protea environment but he needs a full season of FC cricket taking 5-fors and perfecting his stock ball. Luus, Boast & CJ king all got domestic 5-fors in the longer formats this season. Kwena needs those.

It certainly wasn't due to having a settled top 6 :D That period was arguably our most depressing since coming back.

He is most suited technically and mentally but he is 35 now and I guess has earnt the right to bat where he would like to & he has been good at 4. At the least I would discuss it with him and see where he stands.

Welch couldn't even make the Claremont Cricket Club First XI when in Cape Town. Tough on the lad but probably no surprise he is finding test cricket challenging.

Loved the content Proteas have been putting up on social media of late with handing out of tests caps and other things. Polly's speech for Kesh getting to 200 test wickets. https://x.com/ProteasMenCSA/status/1939591577615454618?t=-rjVTR71TP30GSpuMNAzQQ&s=19

Wiaan Mulder since 2024 in Tests: Batting Average: 47 Bowling Average: 23 The upward curve is slow and there are bigger challenges to come but with there being such belief in him, I don't think it is unreasonable to believe it can keep curving upwards.

Who will be captain of your team after 5 years

Concerning. Shukri/Prince might back him but I'm not sure this new selector will whoever is coming. First Innings at Lord's was probably worth double but why can't he knuckle down more and learn from that innings.

Agreed. Was just trying to get funky but Verreynne is the best wicket-keeper in the country by a country mile and has 4 test tons. He will defo play in Asia. Lhu maybe as a back-up for white-ball. Long term test number #4.

Be interesting to see if he goes on the India/Pakistan tours. You imagine the top 7 in WTC final & the 2 young bucks might be enough. Especially with opening there slightly different to SENA.

Wonder if they should give the gloves to Brendan or not? Take the expectation and pressure off slightly. Saying that with all the injuries there one to many holes in this Zim team.

Hasn't taken his chance like Breetzke. Both their domestic careers are in and out. Both have had some great moments in international cricket but I wonder how they both can try take their FC games to the next level. Do they get challenged enough provincially? NZL A series in Jan should be fun...

It's Peter Pollock's 84th Birthday today. Plugging this great interview with Cricinfo's Cricket Monthly. Not only a great fast bowler but an innovative chief selector with coach Bob Woolmer in the 1990s. How many great selections did he make & back with not much domestic performance behind...
