innings should not have ended with an awesome throw like that

I wonder what the Charles Bannerman record is for T20Is. Edit: Well out of David's reach, it turns out. https://www.espncricinfo.com/records/highest-percentage-of-runs-in-a-completed-innings-283996 But still a fair effort from his position in the order.

    Sourav Ganguly vs Kumar Sangakkara

Not anymore than say Shakib in 2019 world cup. ODI cricket is really far less about raw stats. Ganguly was a set-the-tone kind of opener who also frequently went big. Sangakkara was a middle over accumulator who AFAIR rarely changed the momentum of the innings, a bit like Kallis.

And doing a more than decent job of it in this innings.

Was SF barnes a spin bowler or pace bowler?

...from 1958-9 is interesting. When he's first brought on to bowl, the commentator describes Keith Slater as a medium-pacer, but in the second innings he calls him an off-spinner. Most of the time he's clearly bowling spin, but at 12'15 you can see him coming in off a longer run with the keeper...

That was legitimately an awful innings from Maxwell. Is this the new Australian T20 way? Just hit everything?

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

the totals were below 350 70% of the times iirc.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Dude in four out of five of those remaining series his SR was mid 60s. The other vs Aus in 1995 he was clearly struggling for impact outside of a green pitch. I don't know why you can't admit he had these periods of low productivity and it affected his overall output to be slightly below par...

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Other than his debut series, the series where he was ill, Ambrose had one other series in 12 where he took less than 2 WPI, coming down to less bowling innings.

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

Actually 0.4 per innings IMO does translate over an entire career into more impact. Show me how the slightly better average is more impactful than an extra wicket per game. Lillee hardly played much away except for England where his SR is better than Ambrose there. His SR is around the same...

    Who's Done the Most Damage?

0.4 wickets more per innings isn't impacting games when you have a spinneresque average. Really? Making a deal out of 5.8 deliveries more to take wickets at a significantly lower average now? BTW why did you ignore away SR? Ambrose has a better SR while literally going for 4 runs less a piece...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Lord's too. However what happened was less that there were huge scores but there were consistently large-ish scores in the 350+ range, and virtually no low scores (there could have been had Stokes gotten out cheaply at Headingley, but that was about it)

Stop the presses: first time in test history that 3 left handers have made scores of 150+ in a test innings.

    Why T20, why not T30?

...dominant, and in control instead of fluky. But usually it's a bunch of premature nuts and sad wickets. Even when a batsman finishes the innings well, I'm left wanting more, feeling like he just got into flow. This is like 90+ % of the innings, even winning ones. I thought initially when...

Was SF barnes a spin bowler or pace bowler?

...he did come of the pitch quicker than one expected because of his fine body action and perfect timing. Consequently a batsman after a long innings against him would have a bruised right hand as a result of the constant jarring from the bat handle after the ball hit the blade. He wanted the...

Just the 3rd time in history 3 batsmen scored over 150 in a test innings.

    Harold Larwood vs Barry Richards

Was wondering why you were going on and on, but then decided to take a peek at the poll results and understood. It is possible to make you case for Larwood without bringing 4 tests every couple of sentences.

Is Javed Miandad an ATG test batsman?

Yes 17 overall LBW dismissals 10 at home in 108 innings – 92/1000 chance of LBW dismissals 7 overseas in 106 innings – 66/1000 chance of LBW dismissals.

    Harold Larwood vs Barry Richards

...young pacer trying to find his way in a batting era. if those two are ignored he has the home average of 24 and 23 wickets to his name in 12 innings bowled at home and one albeit poor series in Australia with a match winning performance but faded at the end of the series after being...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

The Ireland Test in 2023 must be doing some heavy lifting because the Ashes weren’t THAT high-scoring (I know there were some large 4th innings scores, but IIRC 400 was only bettered once at OT)
