And losing matches loses series'. His point was completely valid, and actually if you believe it's all about winning, it's frankly a point that should be compatible with your view - i.e. getting draws as opposed to loses obviously increases the chance of a series win. The all-out 'must win...

Na he's never wrong. If you disagree you just don't understand cricket mate.

oh yeah I'll just conveniently ignore the fact Marsh has 8 scores of <5 out of his 15 innings so far in test cricket (6 of those being ducks). Benchmark everyone. Mate I don't even have to argue with you, I'm just let his batting do the talking.

Also scored some nice runs against SL on his debut followed by some absolute dross. Marsh has always looked a million bucks on the rare occasions he actually turns up, it proves nothing. The question with Marsh has always been whether he has the ability to improve his consistency at the higher...

What are you on about. That's Rogers 3rd century in 4 matches. Yep it's not particularly ideal having stop-gap solutions in your team, but when the stocks are low and there are clowns like Marsh in the team, Rogers stays. Period.

next test would drop Doolan and Marsh for Watson and Hughes. With the bowling reckon Harris does looked pretty cooked. I definitely don't think he's been at his best and he is probably struggling with his knee problems which were actually due for surgery after the Ashes. Siddle is a also a...

Really hope we can get another 70 odd runs and avoid the follow on. Very keen to see how Johnson will bowl in the seconds innings. He has seen you can easily get enough out of this pitch if you bend your back, and the team will likely be very much on the back foot. Will easily be his biggest...

Ha Marsh like clockwork...makes a very solid hundred then nicks off for nothing liked a stoned batsman soon after. Selectors should be placing their finger on the eject button.

    The Golf Thread

Does anyone else get kind of stiff fingers after playing golf a lot...like i mean a lot (at least 3 times a week for hours at a time). Sort of lock up a bit when you clench your first. I have a pretty relaxed, orthodox grip so i guess it must be just the amount I've been playing.

ok thanks for the feedback. Be interested to see how warner approaches this given the slowness of the wicket, will probably be a test for him to curb his natural instincts.

I think a problem with a lot of subcontinental pitches is that they don't turn enough. I think it's fine to produce slow pitches that favor the spinners, but they have to be ones that heavily favor them for it to make it an interesting affair imo. Need more raging turners.

If it turns out that at the back end of the game the balance between batting/bowling has been restored somewhat, then it doesn't matter to me that much that they might have chosen to doctor the pitch to suit themselves. If they do it at the expense of good cricket though then I do have a problem...

i'm pretty sure they did. Think I read something about the pitch being covered in grass a day before and the curator waiting on advice from Graeme Smith before making the final preparation. So lame.

Someone in here said before that wickets like these aren't a bad thing in test cricket...if it can enfeeble a cricket forum, a place where pretty much only cricket fanatics go, then I think it is probably a bad thing for test cricket.

If it stays much the same, I'll be pretty surprised if any of the bowlers manage to get anything out of this wicket...just so slow and placid.
