Boult vs Starc vs Hazelwood vs Shami

    What are these numbers?

Boult vs Starc vs Hazelwood vs Shami

Rank them purely on test match bowling.

Starc vs Johnson vs Hazelwood in Tests as bowler

    Who is better test bowler?
  5. M

    Morne Morkel vs Josh Hazlewood

I think this is closer than their stats. How many games Hazelwood played in Asia? I know his record in England must be excellent but what about other part of the world? Did he got picked in India last time around? I know Starc was picked and got spanked. Hazelwood luckily wasn't picked so his...

Dravid vs Kallis vs Ponting vs Sanga in Tests

Ponting is #1. Hard to seperate other three. However, Kallis got 290 test wickets also, Sangakkara kept for 40 odd tests. This is probably why I would keep those two above Dravid. They had to focus on other aspects outside of batting.

    Joe Root vs Ponting

I respectfully disagree on your disagreement.

    Joe Root vs Ponting

Much lower, he played in a team that has openers struggling to average 30+ except ofcourse Cook.

    Joe Root vs Ponting

One thing though, Root has played in more bowling friendly conditions than Ponting, Dravid or Sangakkara.

    Joe Root vs Ponting

Ponting. Even though he was poor in India with an average of 26, his ability to dominate bowling attacks ( especially pace bowling) was second to none. When you are superb vs pace and bounce, fast bowlers struggle to put pressure. Root is slightly better than Dravid and Sangakkara but behind...

    Joe Root vs Dravid

I think Root is possibly better. Now before certain section of fans go after me, let's take a look at their stats excluding Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Root averages 51 while Dravid averages 49. Both superb players of swing and seam bowling but not so good vs pace and bounce. Root is slightly...

Best Asian Test opener to debut in the 2010's

    What about Usman Khawaja? :D

***Official*** England vs Sri Lanka 21st August-10th September 2024

What a player, Root! In my opinion, he is in the same league as Ponting and Kallis. Ponting was poor in India, Root average in Aus but everywhere else both were excellent in Test cricket. Both aggressive players and match winners with wide range of shots.

Top 10 Batsmen with Debut after 2000

Root's hundred was a quality one in South Africa in 2016 too. The series was on line, conditions were overcast. Remember Broad ran through SA batting which boosted Amla and ABD. But it was Root's hundred in 1st innings which really set up the game for England. They won that series in South...

    2000s debutant test XI

Younis Khan get overrated on this forum. He has poor record in South Africa, West Indies and against Australia, he was lucky to improve his average in his final test he played there with the 175 not out in Sydney on a dry wicket where Australia themselves went with two pacers and two spinners...

    2000s debutant test XI

Watling is a quality keeper batsman and can be picked but I want to include a player of AB calibre. Sanga also keeps so workload can be shared. I think Root is a better choice than Younis who was a master only on slow dry wickets. He also gives an additional bowling option if required.

Top 10 Batsmen with Debut after 2000

No, Root has series defining performance in South Africa, that hundred he got in Wanderers was a tough wicket. In Australia, Kohli is better. Remember the 2021 series at home vs India, Root got 750+ runs while second runs scorer was Rohit Sharma with 350+ runs. Root has several such performance...

Top 10 Batsmen with Debut after 2000

Point 1 - okay but de Villiers still remains an all formats great due to his perception of a great T20 player. If I have to pick between de Villiers and Williamson in a T20I match, I will pick de Villiers and most others would also I believe. Point 2 - Williamson's biggest problem is his...

Top 10 Batsmen with Debut after 2000

Root is not quite bad in Australia, it is not like he is averaging 20-25 there. He got 9 fifties in Australia and averages 35 in Australia. He has excellent record in tough conditions in India and South Africa. Additionally, excellent record in New Zealand and Sri Lanka too. VK has poor record...
