He'd be an option, I just think Carey in his current form and with his international experience would be the slightly better pick. I think they're still just hoping JFM will come good tbh so who knows what they'll do.

I know you don't rate Tim David but he's has a good argument to be the best finisher in the world over the past few years just based on numbers. He's a lock. And I don't think Short is good enough against spin for a subcontinent world cup. They might have to fit Carey in the squad considering...

Oh yeah, I don't mean this line up is the 7, but it looks like Head, Marsh, Inglis, Green, Maxwell, Stoinis/Owen, David is what they're moving towards going ahead.

Nice to see Sangha and Peake using this opportunity to pile on the runs.

Makes the team composition so much easier. Seems close to a settled top 7 now with the main question being whether Stoinis is just out of form or if he's done.

The difference between Green & Maxwell and everyone else in this game has been pretty significant. The fielding was generally good the other day though.

Is there a reason why England have only used five bowlers when everyone except Ecclestone is going at 6-7 an over without picking up many wickets? Is Nat Sciver-Brunt not bowling at the moment?

    2025–26 Australian Domestic Season

This comment on reddit seems a good summary of Weatherald's 23/24 season. I checked the Second XI scorecards; he made 223* in one game and otherwise didn't play a lot. I also remember people saying he tried to go back to SA after Tas didn't play him but they wouldn't release him. All worked out...

I stand corrected; Owen did just fine at #6. I appreciate Australia filling their T20 side with as many massive all-rounders as possible. Still have David, Short, Stoinis and Hardie as options as well.

They started training JFM to be a keeping option at some point because he's one of the few guys who don't bowl and I guess he was a slightly preferred option to bring in here rather than add to add to Carey's workload or take Philippe away from Aus A (bearing in mind that Inglis keeps having...

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/australia-to-trial-new-combinations-against-west-indies-as-t20-world-cup-build-up-begins-1495694 So JFM is actually the back-up keeper now, Johnson is injured, and Kuhnemann is a good chance to play because the next WC is in Sri Lanka.

I'd be surprised if they pick five bowlers. Maxwell, Owen & Short all bowled a fair bit in the MLC so I think they'll just get overs from them and have David at #7. Otherwise I agree.

Small sample size but Lyon, Hazlewood and Starc all have significantly better averages in day tests in Adelaide than they do in D/N tests in Brisbane. Meanwhile the only English bowler who has done well in Adelaide over the past 10 years is Jimmy. So I think that's still the test English fans...
