    *Official* Australia in India 2023

Probably the most disgraceful pitch prep I've just about ever seen tbh. If ever there was a time for the ICC to come down on the BCCI. Otherwise it should just be open season on pitch prep. Take to the GABBA with sledge hammers an hour before the test on a good length.

Murphy turns it more and gets more drift than Lyon. Lyon gets a lot more overspin. They are different. Not that it matters all that much. Over a few hundred overs he's going to take more wickets than Agar or Swepson. Murphy is also a hell of alot more accurate than both Swepson and Agar.

    Most overrated cricketer

This. You talk to the average cricket fan in the UK and a fair number of pundis genuinely consider him the best fast bowler ever.

Greatest Fast bowler of this century after McGrath/ Steyn ?

It's Cummins. Likely ends up with 400+ test wickets after missing almost 6 years of his tear away best and comes back with these sorts of performances. Very likely he'd be on 350+ test wickets right now without his injuries and would be staring down McGrath, Anderson and Broad's tally's. He's...

Feels like they will pick Agar, when I would prefer Murphy. Cummins, Haze, Lyon, Murphy with Green and Head as the 5th/6th options. Is what I would go with: Warner Khawaja Labuschagne Smith Head Carey Green Cummins Lyon Hazlewood Murphy

    Aus XI india tour?

The part time spinners are there to pick it up. In the last tour of India, the quicks averaged 11 overs an innings each. They took 35% less wickets than Lyon/SOK and their ER's were 30% higher. If it's another bowler, it's probably Agar in lieu of Renshaw.

    Aus XI india tour?

Khawaja Warner Labuschagne Smith Head Renshaw Carey Green Cummins Lyon Murphy Is my ideal side. With Head bowling 10+ overs an innings also. None of the left armers are better than Murphy and having two right handed offspiners.

Nice review. Head is my biggest watch leading into India. He has just under 1000 runs averaging 51 @ 80 SR in the last 13 months. I think it may have been Katich on SEN, but he was talking about him and comparing him to a few English players under McCullum and how it seems to also have...

    Aus XI india tour?

The Murphy situation is similar to Cummins where you have a young bowler that looks the standard. Multiple players are saying he's the best spinner in the country at the moment outside of Lyon. I don't hear the same chatter about Chris Green tbh.

    Aus XI india tour?

I guess if Green had also taken 29 wickets and been the leading wicket taker in the Sheffield Shield during his games the conversation might be similar...

    Aus XI india tour?

Chris Green has played 2 FC matches. Agar, despite his mediocre bowling record, still has 60 FC games and 3 x FC tons behind him at an average of almost 30. Im firmly in the Murphy camp and use Head as the third spinner, who bowled really well this summer. If we need to crack a right hander...

*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

You completely ignored my very next sentence, when I stated Lyon benefits from some of the best natural variation I've ever seen for a finger spinner given the amount of bounce he gets from his overspin. You don't need a wrongun/arm ball with the natural variation he gets with his bounce, that...

*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

The counter argument is, Lyon has probably one of the best stock balls in history for an offspinner. He's taken this many wickets without any variations for a reason. He gets massive amounts of natural variation from spin and bounce with his stock ball that many others have ever gotten. None...

He's an Australian offspinner, who may overtake McGrath in career wickets by the end of his career. That thought was inconceivable 20 years ago.

*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

Much the same way some would have Ryan Harris above some all time quicks, but I just think longevity counts for something. Australia is where finger spin goes to die and for someone to take 230+ test wickets @ 31, is a fair effort when you compare that to the records of some of the greatest...

*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

Nope. He's easily the best Aussie spinner behind Warne of the last 30 years in Australia and that includes Macgill. He puts far more work on the ball than Colin Miller who took 70 test wickets @ 26 with an ER of 2.90. Who clearly never got hammered in an extremely strong shield era. The likes...

Subcontinent series win for the taking with 2 days of good play. They don't come around often.

    *Official* Australia in Pakistan 2022

Apart from a couple of periods of Starc bowling 2m down leg trying to inswing it, you wont find a better fast bowling performance on a subcontinent pitch. Pakistan certainly weren't great, but some of the deliveries were absolute brutes. Reverse swing masterclass. I think they did the right...

    5th Test at Hobart - 14-19 Jan 2022

45 with the bat, 25 with the ball is my prediction.
