Who is the best since Bradman?

Barry was even better than them because the average of all of his ducks in FC cricket was still over 50!

Best home and away stretch of pacers with 40+ tests or 175+ wickets

What makes this discovery of yours particularly satisfying is that I was born in 1964! There is an inconsistency though: I was born at home and not away, and your list includes both! I have found an improvement to the McGrath run (I excluded Bangladesh and Zimbabwe because I think that is what...

Best home and away stretch of pacers with 40+ tests or 175+ wickets

OK, there's also this for Hadlee which is sub-20 and excellent in other respects as well (percentages again relative to my first graphic, there might be a few rounding errors in these and previous calculations): Longevity: 10 years 3 months (better by 17%) Matches: 48 (better by 9.1%)...

Best home and away stretch of pacers with 40+ tests or 175+ wickets

I think those figures for Hadlee might be messed up @Randomfan (please correct me if I'm mistaken). This is the best that I've been able to find: Longevity: 8 years 9 1/2 months Matches: 44 Innings: 77 Wickets: 244 WPM: 5.55 WPI: 3.17 Ave.: 19.80 SR: 48.1 5WI: 26 10WM: 6 Sacrificing...

    Imran Khan vs Curtley Ambrose

I had doubts about these figures for Marshall because I knew he took just 35 wickets in 10 matches in Pakistan (he had a great average though), had a poor first tour of India (he was only 20 and it was a year before he joined Hampshire), and took just 9 wickets in 3 Tests in NZ (he was carrying...

Best away stretch of pacers with 25+ away tests or 125 wickets

Thanks for making the change! "You are right that we may not have many more who are missed here becasue graphic posted by you has home+ away and normally most players do better at home than away." I might be misreading you here but the graphic I posted was just for away! I might have confused...

Best away stretch of pacers with 25+ away tests or 125 wickets

Just a small correction: in your latest list, Hadlee's SR should be 47, not 49 (you might want to edit that so the Hadlee groupie in me is satisfied!). Some outstanding numbers are Marshall's low average of < 18 (17.84) and high WPM of > 5 (5.39). Hadlee's WPM of 6 for > 10 years (10 years 4...

Best away stretch of pacers with 25+ away tests or 125 wickets

This is a better away run for Hadlee: 10 Nov 1976 - 5 Jul 1990: Most matches: 32 Most wickets: 185 Greatest longevity: 13 years 8 months Most fifers: 18 Most tenfers: 5 Highest WPM: 5.78 Highest WPI: 3.25 Best BBM: 15/123 Best BBI: 9/52 Most Player of the Series awards: 6 or you can...

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

Bumrah is now 16th equal on the historical ICC Test bowling ratings. Hadlee might have pipped him with 33 > 32 but I fear Paddles' 909 will soon be overtaken by Bumrah! from https://www.relianceiccrankings.com/alltime/test/bowling/: Lillee is very low at 41 with 884 points (possibly due to...

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

No, I do trolling posts and also more serious ones, something like a 50-50 mix.

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

Bumrah's ODI bowling average in NZ may well be "undefined" but what is very clearly defined is that 167 runs conceded in Kiwiland for ZERO wickets taken is very sucky bowling indeed and no amount of obscurantist mathematical pedantry is going to change that!

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

And again, it was NZ that proved to be his Achilles heel, driving his bowling average kicking and screaming into the 30s, neutering his SR into the impotent 60s, and hammering his Econ into post-3 territory.

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

Since debuting in Tests in January 2018, Bumrah's bowling average does stand out like a shining light. It's better than anybody else's in this time frame (min. 100 wickets) by nearly 2.5 runs (Rabada comes closest, 2.46 runs worse):

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

Bumrah tried bending his back once, got spasms, and had to settle for 32 wickets, behind Hadlee's 33. NZers always seem to get the better of this man! The situation reminded me of when Peter Snell defeated Roger Moens in the 800 metres to win the gold medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics:

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

I'll tell you what's wrong. Dead wrong. Calling it "math" rather than "maths"! ;-)

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

Anyway, a seven-year Test career with 63% availability (45/71) is not enough for ATG status. IMO. @ma1978 mentioned Sandy Koufax (I know next to nothing about baseball) but (after looking him up) even he went for 12 seasons (over 11 years).

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

It looks like some groupie with limited English skills has been editing Bumrah's Wikipedia page:

Is Jasprit Bumrah an ATG test bowler?

He has failed against us (NZ) in ODIs as well and his average against us in ODIs in NZ is infinity (167 ÷ 0):
