    *Official* Australian Domestic Season Thread

That's the side I think the selectors will choose. The choice between the quicks is a mini Giles-Panesar mentality dilemma for Australia I think. Clark is starting to win me around a bit but I would prefer they take the punt and let Johnson loose in the first test and if he does get smacked...

    Socceroos and Australian Football

Milicevic is a spud. I thought he was a little unlucky not to make the world cup squad given that he was playing champs league at the time with his club but after seeing him a couple of times since I've changed my mind big time and can see why he wasn't selected. He's a big bloke but he has the...

I loved Warney's well you wouldn't want to lose to the oldest test team ever, would you? response.

1-1 was probably a fair result in the end, **** way to conceed the goal though, it's a pity we don't have any other keepers pressing for selection. After Grella went off we fell apart in the midfield, I guess we didn't have much choice but to call up Wehrmann with Skoko injured and the...

    Mohammed Yousuf/Yousuf Youhana

Ponting has 1253 runs at 52.20 against India overall. In India it is obviously a different story but you are getting fairly selective when assesing half a dozen innings over a 105 test career.

    ICC ranks Hair second best

It's not an accuracy rate judged on 50-50 decisions though is it. If you have a batsman padding up to a spinner for instance the bowler is going to make a lot of hopeful appeals to the umpire to plant the seed. It doesn't take much to get a gold star for making a correct decision on those.

They might as well call the game off now, Jaques run out in the first over.

    Jones reinstated behind stumps

There's a big difference between handing Warne the ball after 15 overs on the first day of a test match and giving the (relatively) new ball to MacGill. I'm over it and for what it is worth I would like to see MacGill played as the 4th bowler, with Watson as support, wherever possible in this...

    *Official* English Football Season 2006-07

Dismissing him 12 games into the season is harsh, they have already played the big three and their form has been decent over the last couple of weeks, but hey he was always going to struggle in charge of a premiership club and his pre season buys were poor.

    Zidane keen on Bangladesh

I don't think Hiddink spoke a lot of Korean tbh, he had an interpreter.

    Jones reinstated behind stumps

The debate ended here for mine, perfectly put. With McGrath underdone, Lee having an ordinary series with the ball and no legitimate 5th bowling option amongst the batsman, it's not hard to see why they did side for the quick in red hot form at the time.

Casson himself and Hauritz for playing Pietersen and Flintoff into form? ****ing boom NSW recruits those two.

    Jones reinstated behind stumps

Tait had taken 30 wickets @ 28 the season before as a 20 year old. His 65 wickets eclipsed Clarrie Grimmett's FC record for SA and fell two short of the Australian domestic record, it was more than just a good season. It's quite funny arguing that Tait can't land 2 balls on the same spot when...

    Jones reinstated behind stumps

In consecutive posts too, I was about to point it out myself. If you can use the domestic form card for Bell I don't see why Tait is any different, he completely wiped teams out in pura cup taking 65 wickets @ 20.16 in 10 matches in the Australian summer leading up to the ashes.

    World Ginger XI

Australia's finest ginger, he has a premiership medallion anyway. What about a kit? Australia's 1993 effort sported by a young Kevin Muscat would have to be a frontrunner, it's a pity I can't find a still of Slater in it. A team full of gingers in fiorentina's purple kit would be a sight to...

Should Langer be dropped for Jaques?

Jones only dismissed him once in the last series but yes I realise there are other implied points to that statement. Anyway it was a hypothetical question on whether Jaques would replace a batsman that started the series in poor form and I think Martyn should be on shakier ground than JL in that...

Should Langer be dropped for Jaques?

That he is. I wonder what would have happened if we had bitten the bullet and taken the unconventional path, hmm bad cliches, and replaced an underperforming middle order bat with an opener (Hussey) mid way through the last ashes series. Perhaps the same question will be posed with Jaques a...

Should Langer be dropped for Jaques?

I was just completing the sequence to back up my earlier comment that he was lucky to still be in the one day team to have the opportunity to play well in India, Simon Katich certainly didn't get that sort of leeway. It was on the harsh side for Martyn to be dropped and he did get a couple of...

Should Langer be dropped for Jaques?

    So did Hussey predominately.
