    The Barmy Army

I think the problem security have with the mexican wave is that it usually involves the plastic beer cups being thrown in the air. As the day goes on they get thrown with alcohol intact and families, the eldery etc. don't appreciate being showered with beer. The treatment of the barmy army is...

The "No-Loyalty" XI for the Gabba

True. I was worried about playing McGrath, if he didn't get back to something nearing his best, and Clark (more of a reflection on my opinion of Clark) together before the champions trophy finals and the warm up games in Australia.

I've given a bit of stick to Clark, and even though the pitch is again favourable for his bowling style, it is easy to appreciate the spell today after the efforts of the England seamers. Hopefully we can keep the workload up on Flintoff and get him in early tomorrow.

McGrath AND Langer? It's inevitable those two prove critics wrong, people should know that by now.

MacGill finding a bit of form in the shield. The Watson/MacGill sub for Clarke/Clark might have to wait until perth with Watson's fitness and the form of the other two in Brisbane.

Good luck with that. He's good enough but the only batting position that is likely to become available in the next year is Martyn's after the world cup and Jaques should take that with Watson dropping to 4.

    A.F.L Thread

It's understandable considering he "retired" from football with a year to run on his contract with the lions. I'd be fuming if someone did that to my club. I think he will be a good pick up for Essendon. Last year they were using Solomon and McPhee at CHB because they had absolutely no one else.

It's just taking the piss sending McGrath in when you have 578 on the board.

haha two sixes in a row, brilliant.

Warney should be batting at 10. Clark is super smooth with the bat.

Football World XI's - Eurpoe, South America, Africa

That's the softest midfield I've ever seen, it needs Australia's best player and Parma captain Vince Grella to stiffen it up. Australico: ----------------Sanchez-------------------- Neill---Marquez---Nelsen---Salcidio ------------------Grella-----------------------...

So the big question at lunch, is Flintoff also head and shoulders better than the Australian attack in their current form? The way he was getting them to shoot off the pitch is almost as ominous for England as Pietersen turning them late yesterday, you know McGrath and Clark will put them in the...

    The Barmy Army

They started out as tennis supporters, what do you expect. Singing at the cricket is just wrong. Cricket Australia commissioned Greg Champion to come up with songs to combat the barmy army, thankfully I haven't heard any of his work, there's no doubt they would be cringeworthy to begin with but...

    Ashes Commentary

I listened to the radio commentary over the tv and didn't think the lag was so bad, certainly cricket is much easier to follow like that than aussie rules, the slight delay is still better than listening to Healy, Nicholas, Taylor, Greig etc.

It's obvious to say England need to restrict Ponting and send him back early but it's pivotal they get rid of him before Hussey strides to the crease. The pair of them just give absolutely nothing away, at least with Martyn and Clarke you can just wait for them to give their wicket away. With...

Greg Matthews deserves a mention for wearing the woolen sweater as well, that's just crazy.

For Australian viewers - "Madras Magic" on ABC next week

Imagine if Ponting did that today, he would never play again. I've got to say people talk up the Tendulkar cover drive but has there ever been anything more glamorous than the Boonie hook shot, absolute magic :D

    Clarke called up

England would have planned for them all anyway, hell they've just spent the last fortnight facing Tait and Clark, bowling to Michael Clarke and they had a good sighter of Watson and Johnson at the Champions Trophy. The way Langer was talking to the media I don't think the players know who will...

    *Official* English Football Season 2006-07

Is Freddie Adu the biggest rouse in modern football history? He doesn't even play regular first team football in the MLS. I'm sure they have already set aside a name for his biography How Nike created a footballer.

How can we prevent rain from ruining the day?

Just make sure they build the stadium facing the right direction so the grass can grow! edit: I should clarify that for the internationals because it sounds stupid otherwise. There is a football stadium in Melbourne with a retractable roof that has all sorts of trouble with the turf dying...
