*Official* Sri Lanka in New Zealand 2022/23

1 out of 16 successful reviews according to Craig McMillan. Southee’s use of DRS was a meme before he became captain, but the meme is really no longer funny.

Lord this is just dire bowling.

*Official* Sri Lanka in New Zealand 2022/23

Batting is looking much easier, and the New Zealand bowling is starting to look pretty flat.

Is someone tracking Southee’s success rate with reviews as captain?

Also great to see Phillips knuckle down and bat solidly when it is needed, and for Thorn Parkes to get a decent score on the board. Man I love the PS!

Awesome to see spinners win a game on the last day at the Mount!

I will be watching the series, but my enthusiasm for the New Zealand team is very low. Any interest is in seeing some sort of form revival from our old stalwarts and some runs from the new young wonder that is Conway.

Hmmmm. It doesn’t look like Lochie Ferguson has bowled any overs today. I hope that doesn’t mean he has an injury.

I can understand the attitude. Apparently having an excellent first-class record is no longer considered important by the selectors. So Phillips might as well just hit out. Either he Harry Brookses it and it comes off, or it doesn’t - in which case nothing has changed (except his batting...

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Man, imagine a world where Bruce Edgar was CEO of NZ Cricket and Heinrich Malan was the national team coach.

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

I just checked the latest ICC player rankings, and one surprise was to see Tom Blundell is currently rated the 7th best batsman in the world (just behind Williamson at 6). I tried to see where Michael Bracewell rated, but couldn’t find his name anywhere in the top 100 for either batting or...

    *Official* England in NZ 2023

I am guessing the @Burgey comment was meant to be a reference to this. Which happened 15 years ago, was forgiven almost instantly, and didn’t involve any of the same players.

Thank god Scotty Stevenson wasn’t on the mic for the last ball. That would severely inhibit my enjoyment of watching it replayed over and over again tonight.

    Incredible! Incredible! Just … incredible!

Anyone else coming into this thread for a moment of calm and quiet compared to following the test?

It looks like it was 2017/18 that Van Beek did so well. 40 PS wickets that season. I can remember thinking he had put on an extra yard of pace and had much improved control. And then he seemed to fall away completely again after that.

*Official* New Zealand domestic season 2022/23

Van Beek seems to have had one season where he was brilliant, and a career of otherwise being trash.

That was exactly what I thought of when I saw it!

Yeah. I didn’t mean that first bit to sound judgemental - I was just disappointed he didn’t get more. But 33 and 118 opening, and 3-19 bowling is a strong reminder to the selectors.

And Ravindra goes through a loose legside heave for 118. He got his ton though, which is exactly what he needed to do.
