Healy catching that spin also equally amazing.

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

Yes, I have watched him. He is a big turner, could do both leg break and off break. Successful accross conditions. What I was referring to was he didn’t consistently turn to the degree like Warne McGill did, and McGill could even be inaccurate many times unlike Warne or Muralitharan, which...

Gilchrist is very much comfortable against McGill

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

For quality one could argue but don’t think he turned the ball as much as Warne or McGill.

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

More Wayward fast bowlers! Gosh which universe this is! you could argue for Muralitharan as a better spinner maybe, but he wasn’t that much a big turner like Warne or McGill… for wicket keepers keeping to more turn is difficult than anything in spin, and Warne had all the variations with bounce...

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

Nah. Gilchrist is definitely 2 or more tier ahead. He proved against all sort of bowling. big turn, express pace and swing. Batting is actually his secondary discipline.

    Ricky Ponting vs Kumar Sangakkara

Ponting. Better bat, ATG fielder and a captain. Sangakkara as a wicket keeper is never in the top 3 or 4 tier.

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Healy should get selected having Boycott, Richards and Ponting at the top order middle order comprises of Root and Faulkner Ashwin is at 8 and most probably Davidson would also get selected, there is a batting depth and till no.5 all are ATG or at best ATVG… so more emphasis on better wicket...

    Allan Knott vs Ben Stokes

yeah. What I meant was atleast we could decide upto an extent how successful the wk was with this. rate and analysing the type of bowlers. Yes, You’re correct, keeping to Strang might be more difficult than keeping to Kumble. Warne although was consistent with line and length , still the turn is...

    Allan Knott vs Ben Stokes

Atleast upto an extent it is useful. Atleast we could presume that the quality of bowling decides the byes conceded. Zimbabwe didn’t had many challenging bowlers. Lesser the quality, less byes. Gilchrist would have the hardest job to keep against the big turner Warne and the fastest Lee.

Derryck Murray has 10.5 Byes per match! Couldn’t find Evans, He had ups and downs He never gave a bye in his first couple of tests and once gave 30 and 29 byes in a single test innings.

    Ricky Ponting vs Jasprit Bumrah

Sorry, I couldn’t complete my sentence earlier due to Internet issues. Yes he certainly has more potential, but if we apply same logic to Botham till mid 80s , he must be second to Sobers.

    Ricky Ponting vs Jasprit Bumrah

Can’t say qualitatively before Bumrah plays atleast 70 Tests…with atleast an avg around 22-23 with around 4.5 wickets, all could be said will be he had better peak or dominated more.
