5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

England going to need Atkinson to take all 10 at this rate.

Remind me why we retired Jimmy again, still swinging it loads and taking top of off peg for Lancs the other day.
Retiring Jimmy to give the new crop of pace bowlers enough exposure to be ready for the next Ashes down under kinda made sense.

Keeping Woakes and him effectively becoming Andersons replacement made zero sense. Should have just kept Anderson going.

I had no issue with them telling Jimmy he's not a guaranteed starter anymore to do exactly what you said.

Retiring him completely made zero sense when they could have just said your fighting for your spot with Woakes.

They'd be bringing Anderson to Australia if they hadn’t retired him surely. There was never any need to assume that he couldn’t possibly make it.

I don't think it was exclusively about him not making it, but Anderson was never really effective as a bowler in Australia.

Woakes is even worse!

Watching India bat, again, in overcast conditions, reminds me how impressive it was they patiently scored 350 at Old Trafford. Now the sun is out, it doesn't look a bad toss to lose. Confident India will reach 400 tomorrow.
