That's gutting the Duke is one of my favourite Durham players ever.
Bloke was a warrior of a player and his form for us got him back into the international setup and he did decent.

Even for one of these not completely serious old players leagues, that must still be a horrible feeling
Worst over I've seen since Simon Mackin in a Shield game at the WACA a fair few years back (the game a very young Pucovski made 270 or somesuch). Sad story that one, went from solid domestic workhorse to barely being able to land it on the cut surface almost overnight. Still don't think I've ever seen a falloff that dramatic in any other cricketer ever

Pakistan champions directly into the WCL final as India champions have refused to play them in the semi.
Meanwhile India will play Pakistan something like 3 times at the Asia cup as BCCI gets loads of $$$ there.

Not that I do not agree but the WCL really has nothing to do with BCCI, no?
Wasn't talking specifically BCCI more India's attitude to playing Pakistan currently in general not just cricket. Lots of money at stake means play not enough then big moral objection and no play.

Yeah but with the WCL its really upto the players. And honestly, its one thing to play Pakistan cricket team and another thing to play one that has Shahid Afridi after his conduct in the last few months. He has made Gambhir look like a saint.
Scott Boswell was the big one in English cricket. Got the yips in the 2001 one day final. Grim to watch.

At least they've pulled out themselves rather than forced a change to benefit them like they would (and did) in a real competition. I can respect that
