4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

My favorite moment of the day is when they had that lunch segment about the 2005 Ashes and I think it was the 3rd test where Ponting made what he mentioned was his number one test innings...Shane Warne saying to him that they were going to win it and next ball he edged it to slip and Geraint took it off the rebound.

The late raised of the crooked finger of Billy Bowden to send Ponting packing....

Then Ponting distraught in the dressing room (and not on the balcony) sending messages to McGrath to bat outside his crease...and further messages to get back in your crease when the ball goes to the keeper. Funny stuff.

And finally, celebrating the draw like it was winning the world cup

Dawson’s going to be so vital for England. There were signs of sharper turn and low bounce yesterday, can’t imagine that will be improving today.

Criminal that he was left out for Bashir for so long.

Whatever it takes!!!
Kind of agree but at the same time virtually every ATG batsman has a bogey country. It doesn't mean much when evaluating his standing among the greats imo.
Yeah having one country or conditions you cant perform in is not something that limits someone from being an ATG in my book, if the rest of their performances have been that fantastic and impactful.

I think the second new ball + overcast conditions will be a bigger challenge than a deteriorating pitch. Looking at the forecast there’s a chance its not cloudy when the new ball is due so fingers crossed.

Ths has been the heartening thing for me. They have been often clueless but never gutless despite what fj or other idiots claim.
Ehhhh I don't doubt the amount of fight and ticker in the team but they do seem a bit mentally brittle to me; the two are too often conflated but they're actually almost opposite problems.

This will be a draw now, so frustrating how England yet again wasted the new ball after having India 0/2. I don’t know if I’m being really harsh on our bowlers given that even Bumrah struggled on this wicket, but the drop off from Stokes to the rest of them is very troubling.

Good on India for at least making this more interesting than it was at lunch yesterday. Hopefully these two can bat through most of the 1st session to set up an interesting finish.

Very good partnership so far, but needing to bat time as well as trying to get runs to ensure a draw on the last day is a very awkward situation to be in. There's an inherent lack of mental clarity when a complete blockathon won't really be enough. There's basically no real batsmen left after Jadeja goes, so these two will have to do the bulk of the scoring. Can't see much hope unless a full session is rained out at least.

The Indian bowlers were very wayward and the team lacked any plans. England have bowled a lot more accurately and are trying different strategies which each spell.
I was specifically talking about Bumrah though, he was ok and not as overly wayward as Khamboj and Thakur

Gill approaching 700 runs for the series.
Rahul just a few runs from 500 runs for the series.
Pant 21 runs from 500 runs for the series.

Can't think when was the last time 3 batters of the same team went past 500+ runs in a series.
The 3 top run scorers of the series and 3/4 top wicket takers.

Yet could end up 3-1 down in the series!
