English Domestic Season 2025

No-one is suggesting you can. But what you can do is try to create the conditions where attacking spinners and genuine pace bowlers actually get picked, instead of defensive finger spinners and medium pace seam/swing bowlers.

For me the jury is still out on whether the Kookaburra rounds have done that. It didn't seem to happen at York or Chesterfield and those games actually produced a result. But it did at Leicester and Canterbury. It's a shame we didn't get to see the likes of Josh Hull, James Minto, George Scrimshaw, Che Simmons, Sonny Baker and so on in action in this round.

I think Samit has it right. Using a ball that favours the batters half the season and a ball that favours bowling the other half seems a logical blend.

The last 'wildcard' picks were made today to decide which county players are unavailable for the One Day Cup in August.

Anderson and Flintoff now unavailable for Lancashire due to picking up £31,000 elsewhere.

Hampshire also lose an additional two players (Albert and Fuller) as do Middlesex (Gohar and Higgins) and Gloucestershire (Singh Dale & De Lange) and Northants (Sanderson and Scrimshaw). Nottinghamshire have lost two players as injury replacements (McCann and Pennington) plus Patterson-White as a wildcard..

Worcestershire remain the only side who will play the MBODC full strength.

Surrey the worst effected (15) followed by Lancashire on 12 (excluding overseas players who might otherwise be available).

Wonder which head coach picked him up on such a deal.

Horrendous nepotism like he's not even played in a first team T20 yet

So much for the Hundred being the best talent.

Received this today , restructuring the domestic season

I assume counties across England will have similar meetings
Not sure I would assume that.

Lancashire did, of sorts, but they left out the option of voting for no change /14 matches. Claiming it would be "insincere" of them to include something that would not be agreed. Alternatively there is an argument to say they left off the version which they knew the members would vote for (more cricket) so they could pretend they were voting for what the member wanted. Members weren't even allowed to abstain. Voting closing midnight tonight. "Options" on how to reduce the amount of first class cricket set out 3 days ago 13th.

CC comes around again. Is Muyeye carrying an injury/left out/leaving? At least we've got an uncle and nephew in the same side today.
