Yeah, as others have said, Cunha and Mbeumo are excellent signings I think. There's no panacea to Utd's situation, but these are players that would make most attacks in the Prem better imo. And presumably they will make a few more additions as well. Many problems will no doubt persist, but I just can't see them being quite as bad again, even if the improvements are incremental rather than drastic.
It's one thing having these players, but I think their biggest issue is actually getting the ball to them. They desperately need a midfield presence that isn't either slow, lightweight, lacking defensively or just not very good. It seems all their current crop tick at least one of those boxes.

Yeah I mean they're not going to become Barcelona circa 2012 overnight, but even a basic strategy of "just give the ball to Cunha and Mbeumo" is going to be superior to trying the same thing with dross like Zirkzee, Hojlund and Anthony.

I also just don't think there is a vast difference between about 5th/6th to 15th/16th.

Probably not on the whole, but I think Man Utd are quite a lot worse than most of the other teams in that range. Or they were last season, at least.

Agree they don't have the cattle in midfield or defence. They should sign a physical striker and play route one football, straight from GK up top.

As rubbish as he is at finishing, Jackson would be the ideal facilitator for Cunha and Mbuemo.

Amongst the crazy goals and yellow cards it would be entertaining if nothing else

They were clearly worse than Newcastle and Villa etc. last season but I don't think it would need a vast amount for that to change.

Forest came 7th last season but you play that season again and they could easily end up 15th.

Gap from 7th to 9th was about 9pts and realistically United have lost touch with the top 7-8 sides.

I put them on the same tier as Fulham, Palace, Everton, West Ham etc.

Spurs are probably the anomaly in the bottom half, I think they've got enough to jump considerably.

Zirzkee, Hojlund and Antony are all still there unfortunately (although Antony is likely to move on).

Cunha and Mbeumo are replacing Garnacho and Amad in the starting lineup, who were two of our better players last year. Don't get me wrong, I think they're an upgrade, but we're replacing decent players with pretty good ones when the serious problems we had last season aren't being addressed.

Most United stuff I've read (and pre-season so far) suggests Amad will be right wing back?

Yeah I think that's the plan, so if works out the Mbeumo signing will be upgrading two positions. I thought it was weird that Amad didn't play there last season.

Cherki and Frimpong are about the only deals this summer that are good value  . Probably others out there I have forgotten.

Obviously time may change all that but even if those were the fees paid 10 years ago they'd still be acceptable.

Yeah, the fella at Chelsea that's already repaid his price plus a load more before the season even starts would probably be the winner for me.

The Brazilian wonder kid looks a decent signing too.

Eh a couple goals in pre season friendlies mean nothing

I mean, it did effectively mean he recouped half of his transfer value immediately, so from that POV getting him for half price is a steal.

Slightly jealous about the Ekitike deal, may not have been the best fit for Arsenal right now but I think he's got a boatload of potential.

Delap played that game too, does winning it mean he was better value?

I haven't seen enough of Ekitike to really comment. His highlights are great and clearly he has technical quality. As you say its all potential right now. After years watching Nunez it'll be a nice change to see a good footballer leading the line.
