English Domestic Season 2025

Sam Cook situation has arguments both ways but when you are pulling out emerging quick bowlers trying to hone their bodies and skills that irritates me.

Seems a lot of opponents have deliberately prepared roads in the knowledge that Surrey lack a really good spinner.
Edgbaston not looking such a road now that a better attack is having a bowl on it. And Jason Roy's return to red-ball cricket didn't last very long, which I suppose isn't much of a surprise given how little cricket of any variety that he plays nowadays.

EDIT
Sheesh, I've just seen Roy's dismissal. Some would describe it as village green stuff, although that's rather unfair to the blokes who do actually play on greens in villages.

I'm not sure why Yorkshire are still batting. Currently 515 ahead on a pitch that seems to have eased somewhat, you'd think they want as many overs as possible to bowl Essex out.

EDIT
Jonny does agree after all. For a bit, I thought he wanted to reach 3 figures before declaring.

Ah, it was Bairstow who was dismissed before the declaration.

Two weeks ago you'd have said Kent had a great shot at being back in D1. Not now. Awful. Players like Finch and Leaning are stealing a living. And the bowlers are laughably poor.

Lancashire once again letting a winning position slip, they look like losing to Northants with the winning line just under 100 runs away with just 2 wickets in hand

Great win for Northants but what on earth has become of Lancs this season? They've been beyond awful.
This might explain a bit of what is going on: https://x.com/LancsCCMG/status/1920827539418763533

Everyone other than the Board at the Club are well aware of that this season is beyond awful. They were awful last year - three innings defeats on the trot - four in total - and heading for their first ever championship wooden spoon this year. Almost everyone on social media is wanting Benkenstein out, after his record in England as coach it isn't surprising - but the real culprits have to be those who were happy to let him stay in post after last's season's disasters. Still every few weeks the Board announce a new sponsorship deal.

Absolutely putrid performance from Hampshire.
Not as bad as Essex's against Yorkshire at home. Losing Cox at the same time as Cook being rested isn't ideal. I'm also not sure why Paul Walter, probably our form batsman, isn't playing. But still, to be at risk of losing by 400 runs at home is abject.

Interesting points table in Div 2 after 5 rounds

Lancashire 3rd without winning a game being above Middlesex and Kent who have both won 2 games.

They had inadvertently given the points that Northants won to Lancashire and vice versa.
It's been changed now, Lancs now bottom with 50 pts, Northants up to 5th with 56 pts.
