I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Had..

1 batsman pop to capable batting, reasonable technique
1 batsman pop to capable batting
1 batsman pop to reasonable keeping
1 batsman pop to average technique
1 bowler pop to capable technique

And 1 batsman pop to dreadful keeping, despite being only on batting training.

This time on a dry track and on a windy day, my bowlers have got 4 early wickets, 3 going to the spinners, whom I tend to bowl continously and unbroken as lon as reasonably possible to create pressure and bring home the wickets.

(A Sri Lanka type strategy)

Hmm I am sensing a pattern here

Code:
Swamibapa CC v Central Districts >> Match Ratings

Match Ratings Swamibapa CC Central Districts
Batting - Top Order: 3,990 4,578
Batting - Middle Order: 3,031 3,804
Batting - Tail: 2,358 3,350
Bowling - Seam: 3,881 (4) 4,440 (6)
Bowling - Spin: 3,459 (6) 4,973 (4)
Fielding/Keeping: 4,231 5,164
Overall: 65,990 82,336
Again tight bowli9ng from my spinners allied to gaining loads of cheap top order wickts in the second power play means we are able to restrict our opposition to a just barely chaseable total despite the apparent overwhelming gulf in class:huh:

6 pops, all in my first XI. Got my second capable bowler, a pop to capable keeping, other bits and pieces.

My team almost choked against a newbie:dry:

Just scraped a 3 wicket win in the 47th over chasing 179

Round 5 - FTP Cup I

Group A

Central Districts (167) v Scaly Piscine CC (207)
Zero Pillars and Hero Fillers (866) v Swamibapa CC (1149)
Dave Mohammed's Army (1438) v Jaffna Jets (865)

Group B

Otago (964) v Blackcaps (451)
Dynamo Morpork (629) v Alternative XI (1056)
Male Models (965) v caves_beachcc (989)

There really isn't enough activity to do the whole home team challenges by a certain date. Also you can't challenge teams away. So whoever sees the post first challenges. It will be like this for the Semis and Final as well. Will do tables in a couple hours.

As usually post here once you have made a challenge or accepted a challenge. Preferred date (10/4/08). Thanks guys.

Swamibapa CC qualified.

Central Districts v Scaly Piscine CC is pretty much a qualifier for 2nd spot. Central Districts need a pretty big win to jump ahead on NRR. Pretty much bowl them out for under 200 and chase it down at 6 plus an over.

Jaffna Jets still have a chance themselves but need Central Districts to win and to basically roll Dave Mohammed's Army for 150 odd and chase it down at 6 or 7 an over.

Scaly Piscine CC the favorite for 2nd spot.

All still to play with four teams still a good chance to make the next round.

Morpork will have an early chance to qualify with their Sunday match verus Alternative XI. A loss however will mean they will have to rely on other results. Otago also have their fate in their hands, but a big will pretty much hand their spot to Blackcaps. Male Models will have to rely on other results, but probably have been the best side so far in this group.

I'm surprised my team is doing any good. Fitness doesn't have an effect in friendlies though, does it? Because my players are trashed.

Challenged caves_beachcc.

Players fitness doesn't have an effect in friendlies, but does impact overall fitness.

Thinking about keeping all my 18yos who will turn 19 next season and just playing a 2nd XI in Twenty20. I'm resting my players with poor fitness against bots, but it doesn't seem to be doing much. Only problem with that is I was relying on the money I was going to get from these 18yos to keep me out of red.

Got a squad of 13 so far, with 7 guys promoting so I might sell two guys or two older guys and keep a squad of 18.

Surprisingly emphatic win for me in the probably meaningless Pavilion Knockout.

Old Wulfs Scaly Piscine CC
Batting - Top Order: 5,247 4,755
Batting - Middle Order: 3,863 4,580
Batting - Tail: 2,488 3,372
Bowling - Seam: 4,691 (6) 4,723 (4)
Bowling - Spin: 5,156 (4) 4,988 (6)
Fielding/Keeping: 5,725 5,127
Overall: 85,464 87,247

Flat pitch, overcast weather.

Won by 7 wickets (lost one of those wickets when I was level with their score) with 15.3 overs to spare. For some bizarre reason Ash had it that spinners are more effective death bowlers than seamers, so I changed the bowling around to take advantage, spinners are being made equally effective death bowlers when the next version comes in.
