South Africa team selection

Shukri seed Aiden as his opener in all formats.
Breetzke usually bats 3 or 4 for Warriors in 50 over cricket, 4 in four-day cricket and opens in T20 cricket.
Well Maharaj is a must for t20 world cup but fine to have other spinners competiting for 2nd and 3rd spin spots. Lindes bowling is a worry though.... sybs, Peter's and I like muns bowling darties for t20s.

We really need Nqaba Peter to develop for the long-term.

In many ways, he like Stubbs could do with time in the middle playing high level domestic cricket. They have too much ability to not get their mojo back.
Does know one think Verynne is abit unlucky he hasnt done much wrong in 50s or t20s can be a jonty Rhodes type as a batsmen fielder reserve keeper.

Bedingham not being there surprises me particularly for the ODIs, I think he has a much pedigree and chance of doing well than Rassie. Particularly when talking WCs that a still a few years away.

I don't buy this back yourself approach and if you get out it's fine. You can be smart and brave. Brevis is better than not being adaptable. Obviously something him & Stubbs need to acquire more of.

One of the problems SA has had historically is that we rely too much on the steady approach at the top and then expect players to immediately hit the ball out of the park who are not good at that (see Mulder at 7!), or picked players hoping they could spend a few overs getting their eye in, before opening up and thus wasting balls after the top order had already not been dynamic enough.

If you are going to rely on a steady approach for the first 30 overs, then you need truly dynamic players at 5/6/7 to get you to a top total in the last 20. I`m actually a fan of having 2 of the top 4 being steady reliable players and giving everyone else the freedom to just go for it. But that needs a caveat for those players to think about the circumstances they are in without becoming overly cautious. I wonder if people realise how good Amla really was for us when he opened, kept the game moving early and was so very reliable.
