Does it matter when Asif didn't as well?I am saying Asif because I don't think Shoaib would have had a full career given his body..
Asif wasn't unfit. He could have had a full career if not for corruption.Does it matter when Asif didn't as well?
Not what I was saying. Both having a full career is hypothetical. I would rather go with what they had.Asif wasn't unfit. He could have had a full career if not for corruption.
Yeah but Shoaib played over a decade for 46 tests. He couldn't complete most series. Not what I was saying. Both having a full career is hypothetical. I would rather go with what they had.
On a match to match basis, Akhtar is quite better. So given he played more as well, think it shan't be much that Asif has potential to play longer. His career wasn't cut short by a tragedy like Jackson or Appleyard, or something outside his control like Barry or O'Reilly, but by choice.Yeah but Shoaib played over a decade for 46 tests. Compared to that, Asif as a worldclass bowler wins by default.
Sorry but if you can't bank on a bowler completing a series that's a major major liabilityOn a match to match basis, Akhtar is quite better. We aren't factoring thatSorry but if your bowler doesn't want to win, that's an even bigger liability.
We are factoring their careers. His career is factually not near AkhtarWe aren't factoring that
It is somewhat near as far as numbers go but there isn't any argument for a bowler who will break down mid series if not mid test regularly, sorry. We are factoring their careers. His career is factually not near Akhtar
If you can factor that in, why can't you also factor in the fact that he had an even shorter career, that too for his own doing? I mean, I can somewhat forgive Akhtar as it was his body.It is somewhat near as far as numbers go but there isn't any argument for a bowler who will break down mid series if not mid test regularly, sorry.
Sure but Asif showed enough to establish his class as a bowler comparable to Shoaib. Just less injury prone so I pick him.If you can factor that in, why can't you also factor in the fact that he had an even shorter career, that too for his own doing? He also showed enough to establish he don't deserve any pity for circumstances.Sure but Asif showed enough to establish his class as a bowler comparable to Shoaib. Just less injury prone so I pick him.
I.M.basing my vote on them as bowlers not moral exemplars. He also showed enough to establish he don't deserve any pity for circumstances.
As bowlers one has twice the wickets as the other.I.M.basing my vote on them as bowlers not moral exemplars.
