I'd say the original selection, the Woakes injury and the dropped catches were all bigger factors.Smith should be blamed instead.

Malcolm Marshall vs England 1984Has anyone ever won a match after coming out to bat with a dislocated shoulder or any other injury which makes batting and running difficult/impossible?
His dismissal is still a factor in the loss though. Denying that is also illogical.Of course he does. But blaming him for the loss is extremely illogical
Siraj also seems to be one who doesnt do gym, he looks more like a marathoner (maybe the reason why he was fit enough to bowl in all 5 tests?)Siraj is the people's champion for this series. Most entertaining cricketer throughout, whether taking wickets, getting into fights, dropping catches or getting bowled off the middle of the bat. Played all 5 Tests bowling full tilt, the only quick bowler on either side to survive. Played a key role in both of India's victories. Proper hero.
A very entertaining Teat series
If Smith doesn't go fishing you would have won regardless of those things though.I'd say the original selection, the Woakes injury and the dropped catches were all bigger factors.
I was there too. Bethell has a technique. Crawley doesn'tI watched him in NZ. Bethel is a million times better than Crawley
Possibly, but the ball was doing plenty, he may well have just got a good one anyway. If Smith doesn't go fishing you would have won regardless of those things though.
Tbh my main impression watching that little innings was that that was someone who was 1000% feeling the pressure and the tension of the situation, those were such nervous, tentative prodsPossibly, but the ball was doing plenty, he may well have just got a good one anyway.
That's the nature of the beast. There is more room for forgiveness usually when one wins. Less so when it costs your team the game and series.
The general approach is fine, it just occasionally needs a bit of common sense applied to it......like picking players who are fit, in form and have recent red ball experience.Based on what McCullum said there I think people hoping for any sort of modification to the approach are going to be disappointed
