What *should* Ben Stokes have done when Jadeja refused to accept a draw?

OK, why should he risk injury to his main bowlers to PREVENT the opposition getting centuries at a point where it made no difference to the outcome of the match?
If the risk is so high that it makes playing on at your best to challenge the opposition in a Test match for your country more dangerous than it's worth then those bowlers shouldn't be playing Test cricket

If England want to keep preparing these roads to make their batsmen look competent, their bowlers are going to have to get used to bowling a lot of overs. If an extra 15 overs is going to injure your bowlers the English management has ****ed up massively

By that point playing on "to challenge the opposition" was worth nothing, because there was no way such a "challenge" could lead to a positive result.

Wrong. There are games within games, even if you aren't going to win the game a Test match should always he a contest. You don't treat it like the County Championship

By offering a draw Stokes had already signalled that he Jadeja and Washington had won that particular "game within a game". I don't blame him for not wanting to play it any further.

It's a pretty rare occurrence these days that Day 5 ends in a nothing draw, and I'm not sure I can ever remember 1 (let alone 2) players on the verge of centuries.

Meh, just bowl your part timers and be done with it. I remember Mark Taylor having a bowl in a test in Pakistan back in the 90s which was meandering to an inevitable draw

That wasn't the issue, it was the carry on. Nothing wrong with asking if they wanted to pull up stumps. No one would have cared if it was just left at that

Agree. But some people seem to think he shouldn't have bowled Brook.

The problem was the sledging not the switch to part time bowling.

I don't blame him for that but i do blame him for his and some of his teams reaction when they're offer wasn't accepted.

Rugby went almost explosively behind a paywall not long after three 2003 WC. They basically pissed away a lot of goodwill and support they’d developed through the late 80s up to that time.
and also they went behind a different paywall around the same time that Foxtel finally made the concession and created Kayo in the late 2010s, so they still ended up being away from the other sports

Decided to put his money where his mouth is re the spirit of the cricket and told the ECB and ICC that his homeland should be retrospectively awarded the 2019 CWC.

In the UK, European Club Rugby is now on a channel that literally only a supporter of a club involved would sign up to. An utterly bizarre decision.

What keeps interest alive here is the 6 Nations and World Cups still being shown on free to air channels.
