Are babar azam and marnus labuschgane underachievers?

In 2019 babar and marnus were hailed as future atgs. They had perfect techniques and great temperament. Six years down the line they are struggling to be in their national sides. They might have done well @ home but away
Babar = 2 centuries away from home one in sena
Marnus= 2 centuries away from home one in asia
At 31 they should be at peak of their careers scoreing runs across globe. Do you reckon they are underachievers?

Babar yes, Marnus no. Babar has a lot more flair but we simply haven't seen him prosper although some of that is down to the relatively small amount of test cricket Pakistan plays. Marnus has cashed in when playing on the previously flat Australian pitches. He's shown himself otherwise to have been a decent but not outstanding batsman when faced with more exacting circumstances.

But babar has 9 hundreds in 62 tests. Just 2 away and only one sena and his 31. Seems like home track bully to me

Babar maybe, but Marnus just overachieved at the start of his Test career.
This for Marnus. Marnus was originally selected when Smith and Warner were banned and averaged 33-35 or so at the time in First Class cricket. From memory a big part of his selection was his part time leg spin for an away tour against Pakistan in the UAE.

In 2018 when first selected if you had of said he'd average over 60 batting at 3 in Test Cricket after 30-40 games (or whatever it was) most Aus supporters would probably laugh at you and say he'd be lucky to get 15 games total.
