Derryck Murray has 10.5 Byes per match!

Couldn’t find Evans, He had ups and downs
He never gave a bye in his first couple of tests and once gave 30 and 29 byes in a single test innings.

I would have said it could have been useful, if Flower wasn't ahead of Bob Taylor by this metric.

Atleast upto an extent it is useful. Atleast we could presume that the quality of bowling decides the byes conceded. Zimbabwe didn’t had many challenging bowlers. Lesser the quality, less byes.
Gilchrist would have the hardest job to keep against the big turner Warne and the fastest Lee.

Pretty sure that isn't always the case.

Don't agree totally. Quality bowlers also tend to bowl more in line and length and breathe less shite. Warne was a big turner but consistent with his pitch. Strang was a big turner (albeit not as big) but much more of a scatter gun. Same with guys like Lee and Olonga. I would argue it's tougher to keep to a fast bowler or a big turner when they can't control their pitch reliably.

yeah. What I meant was atleast we could decide upto an extent how successful the wk was with this. rate and analysing the type of bowlers.
Yes, You’re correct, keeping to Strang might be more difficult than keeping to Kumble.
Warne although was consistent with line and length , still the turn is that much that a keeper has high chance to miss it since he moves in the direction were the ball pitches and the ball deviates a lot from there.
Another limitation for this metric could be wide byes, can’t do anything there.
