Don't really think can consider anyone but Don personally for Captain. One of the finest tactical brains, and too high on a pedestal to be bossed around. Has crazy results as captain especially post War, despite not getting along with a few players.

Shan't WPI be a part of it as well? Like Hadlee also takes 5 wickets a game, while McGrath does around 4.5. Surely that means that he takes around the same number of top order wickets and a few more tailenders, which is just a net plus??
Flip side: Top order wickets are more costly for Hadlee if avg is same despite picking more lower order wickets.

Yeah, no. If you think Imran was that high you can't justify him not being in an ATG XI
I have him in the ATG XI anyway. I actually have him captain. Not only did I vote for him when he lost to McGrath at the very end, I voted for him in the first round as one of two pacers ahead of Marshall lol. I'm a massive fanboi.

But I do think it's theoretically possible, because balance of imaginary sides shouldn't change things.

Yeah I don't think he'd take other captains all that seriously honestly

Aus 2000s were bailed out against average teams. Against ATG sides, you need to raise the bar.

If you are facing an ATG side, you can't suffice with Marshall and Warne at no.8 and 9 and then two bunnies. The chance they will be scuttled under pressure is too high.

No Hadlee, Wasim or Imran at no.8 is a big liability. At the very least they can hang around against quality bowling to allow Sobers and Gilly to score more.

There is very little difference between Hadlee and McGrath as far as bowlers go. I could make a compelling case Hadlee is a better new ball bowler.
Marshall had all the ability that Hadlee did with the bat, his and the team approach was just significantly different.

Hadlee got every single run out of every inning, while Marshall was given the green light to attack. Marshall has not out innings in the 40's because Viv didn't give a damn about averages and running up the score was never an option. And if course Hadlee was was more often in dire scenario and had to hunker down.

Even with all that, they ended up with rpi's of 18 and 23.

Marshall was no bunny and more than capable with the bat.

And none of this matters if Bumrah does what we all think he can, and the best attack is as discussed.

Hadlee was never rated ahead of Lillee by his peers, far less someone like a McGrath compared to his, or Bumrah compared to his.

Whatever, all said and done, Hadlee was a better bat than Marshall and he would be replacing McGrath a bunny.

Just saying McGrath is better because of peer rating doesn't mean he wasn't incredibly close to McGrath as a bowler. You still seem unable to talk about skillsets.
