And Wasim would have got votes too. I think most here (including myself) wanted Marshall and McGrath as new ball bowlers and hence got stuck into voting McGrath over Imran.
Yup I agree, I used to have Marshall, McGrath and Hadlee as my attack in the AT XI. But, I've been convinced now to go the other direction with Hadlee and include Imran for his old ball exploits

The same problem is happening now btw @capt_Luffy

You could have started for the 2nd XI by asking for who should be at no.8 (basically whether to pick bowling AR), and if Imran is selected then folks are going to pick their two best remaining pacers.

Yet now since you asked for two pacers posters may be selecting Imran based on AR package over other pacers they may rate higher.

I think the same happened in the first round of the 1st ATG XI. You asked for 2 pacers and I think a number of folk voted Hadlee thinking of his batting, otherwise McGrath normally beat Hadlee comfortably as a bowler here.

If asked to pick just two pacers and not take into account their batting; I would have still gone for Marshall & Hadlee.

That's way too specific Imo. Hadlee beat McGrath fair and square at 15-11. Don't think should be an issue. I want Hadlee to bat at 9, he and McGrath are equal as bowlers to me and the batting gap is just too massive to gloss over

Yeah but the thing is many prefer Hadlee/Imran over McGrath/Imran anyway

It's a really terrible idea to be overly restrictive in these things.

Your suggestion seems to enforce a team balance where there is exactly one bowling all-rounder, and they are a pacer. Sure, maybe most people agree with that for this team. But there's going to be people who want no bowling all-rounders, people who want two bowling all-rounders and asking for a #8 makes the whole thing become a mess. Personally I might respond Knott!
