Didn't I see some stat where India won the last ten Tests he didn't play but one of the last ten that he did? Admittedly most of those Tests he missed were probably rank turners at home and he usually plays away Tests.

Na we won in wi and edgbaston when he missed. Na we won at perth and also series vs bangers on fair pitches when he played. Lost on turners vs kiwis

Jurel's not a number 3 though. He's got good technique and a solid head on his shoulders, but it's too much to ask of your keeper. If that's the change, then everyone else will have to move one place up to accommodate him below Jadeja. Best hope that Pant is fully recovered.

Someone like Sundar would have to move up to no.3 since he is a top order batter for his state.
In any case, let's hope Pant is able to keep.

He will be desperate to keep wickets because he doesn't want to lose out to Jurel.
Right now, being a keeper bat - Pant has the luxury to play however he likes and his failures are accepted because he is a keeper as well. Suppose Jurel starts being preferred as a keeper and Pant has to play as a specialist batter, then Pant won't have the same luxury to fail.
So Pant will do everything to take back the gloves.

Even if he doesn't keep next week (which I think he will) once he is fit he will be straight back as keeper/bat.
