Alright so I made a change and put it from 2000 to Nov 2007, the average without minnows is about 20 but the wicket taking rate is so ludricous. His home Average without minnows is 20.6 but his WPI is...3.87, Jesus Christ. Regardless, away he does well too, but...nothing ATG except one England series? so maybe the GOAT at home, amazing away. Now Smith? He averaged 75.03, reckon that is more impressive than 20.6, can't really remove minnows for Smith as I don't think he played any. He averages 94.0 at home. I don't care how flat, that's wild. He averages about 64 away from home and had two ATG series, Ashes 2019 and BGT 2017. I'll give it to him, unbelievable numbers.

IVA Richards
This one was really hard, you said mid 80s so I took from 1981 to 1988, removed Sri Lanka and the average came about 18~ and 13 at home and ~22 away from home so very good away record too, ATG efforts in England and the West Indies in that timeframe. Viv on the other hand, averaged 71 and only two not outs too, about 57 at home which is very good, elite ATG series against India and a great one against England but not too amazing against Pakistan and Australia. He averaged 81 away from home which is utterly insane. Maybe the greatest tour to England since Bradman in 1976, then another amazing tour in 1980 against Peak Botham and Willis, a hundred and a 98 while opening against Australia in 76 on extremely quick wickets against Lillian Thomson. Greatest tour to Australia since Hutton in 1979, arguably the GOAT tour of Pakistan in 1980. At the end, we give a little more prescedence to away performances and Viv has that, oh he sure does. Hardest one here, GOAT batting peak bar Bradman vs GOAT bowling peak, I'll go Richards by a little, personally.

Curtly Ambrose
Close. Ambrose peak I took from his first England tour to 1994, He had 212 wickets @ 20.05 but this is largely because of the one series where he was ill, other than that series, 207 wickets @ 19. At home he played only 21 games, averaged 21.87, without that series the average goes to 19.85. He took 126 wickets away from home and averaged 18.85 in 24 games too, amazing stuff, he constantly destroyed Australia and England and had an ATG series in both England and Australia with consistently amazing efforts and both 1991 England and especially 1993 Australia were high-level units against pace too. Warnie peak I took from 1993 NZ series to Sydney test of 1998 Saffer series, in that timeframe, he took 286 wickets in 104 innings and averaged 22, 20 at home, 24 away, had a 3+ WPM at home and did amazing in the West Indies. Think I'll go Ambrose by slightly due to the same reason as before, a little better away record, Warne also kinda was lucky not to play India here.

Though on a sidenote, Warne's second, 2000s peak is almost just as good, His average is around 22.8, taking 3.08 Wickets every inning in general. Home record is a bit dissapointing but given the nature of wickets, fine, it's away where he was amazing. an average of 19.86 away from home in the 2000s, a strike rate that can make Steyn blush and with a stellar 3.57 WPI.

Tie
ok so Ponting averaged 72, 79 at home, and about 64 away from home and unironically the problem is simple, noticeably lower average in England, lower one in Sri Lanka, we all know India and obviously an extremely low sample in UAE, he didn't do marquee work away from home beside South Africa but...South Africa, that was very good, three hundreds, all on proper tracks and contributing to wins. Lara didn't have a 90-95 peak, He had a 93-95 peak. Lara averaged 66, 66 at home and 67 away. Sydney 277 obviously but other than that...He has the 1995 Wisden trophy, ATG series, better than any Ponting England tour. Lara did better in India too and made a great score against Pakistan in a spicy series, I guess the iconic chancless 375. Qualitatively I think Lara was better but ehhh, he just didn't play that much did he? so Lara qualitatively and Ponting quantitatively

Murali - because the numbers are not matched by any. Averaging 75 is not that special. It was achieved by multiple players. Achieving 300 wickets at WPM of 7 or more, that is special

Imran - who has the daddy of the peaks, even surpassing Marshall and Hadlee. Viv never had the daddy of batting peaks. Even Bradman is discounted, there are plenty of peaks with average of 70 or more. If he averaged 90 with the bat, possible.

Ambrose - took them so cheaply

Lara - his role in the team changed from a very good batsman to the leader. Still batted very well
