Haha Aaron is doing work for jio hotstar, the streaming guys who have the rights for this series in India. But they got Broady on for various commentary stints. They usually have one English commentator working from the ground and Varun along with host Rounak Kapoor commentating from the studio here somewhere. Broad and Aaron seem to get along well too, lol. Aaron is really well spoken, well rounded, thinks well about the game and has very modern outlook of the game as well. Been a wonderful voice to listen to this series.

They had Broad on with them for the first test, they had Jonathon Trott here at Edgbaston. Dunno whom they are getting at Lords.
Pujara has been quite good on sony. Puji aaron and dk finally we are producing good comms. Hope they dont go to star sports

I'd still find a way to get Reddy out of the side tbh for either a batter or a bowler. I don't think he's good enough to fill in as a batter vs other options and he's clearly not good enough to bowl. I get giving players a run for a while but compared to Prasidh/Nair/Sudarshan his presence really weakens the side, outside of helping India pretend they have batting and bowling depth.

Assuming Jurel keeps, where do they hide Pant in the field? He looks like he's near enough 100% again but is he up to staying active in the field yet?

Though it doesn't look like Pant wants to give up the gloves, so we're more likely to see Jurel play as batsman instead. Which seems assbackward but eh.
Honestly, if Pant keeps I would rather give Sai another go than Jurel.

Jurel is a better batsman than Sai. Averages 50 in first class cricket and 40 in tests. The fact that he keeps well is the only thing keeping him away from getting selected as he is a direct competition to Pant.

Sai got one Test and then dropped though. Think he deserves another go here

India has a long history of losing majority of tosses against top sides. A number of captains have changed but luck has stayed the same.

Just go back and check each major series India has played in last 15 years and trend is the same. It's unreal.

Root

Stokes

Woakes
Atkinson
Carse

5 genuine pace options, 2 spin options if required in Root and Bethell and batting till 11. This should be the lineup that England should go with for Lord's.

Jaiswal
Rahul
Nair
Gill
Pant
Jurel (wk)
Jadeja
Sundar
Deep
Bumrah
Siraj

With the team winning the second test, I won't want to make too many changes to it, especially those who contributed to the win. Just Bumrah and Jurel in for Prasidh and NKR who were non-factors in this test. Jurel strengthens both batting and keeping. I will give Nair one more test before drafting Easwaran in if he fails again.
This articles reads more likely we'll lineup like this.

We'll find out later today no doubt anyway we always announce our team a few days before now.

Which is a stupid as Stokes wanting to field first every time after winning the toss, or declaring on day 1 of the Ashes with Root unbeaten on a century.

We used to win most tosses under azhar, ganguly and dhoni

I wonder if the fact that we haven’t got confirmation of the team yet is because they are waiting as long as possible to see if Carse, Woakes and Atkinson are fit? Definitely sounds like your XI is a strong possibility, I think of the three bowlers who you have coming in, Archer is almost certain, Overton is probably behind Atkinson in the pecking order (if he’s not going to play, surely it would be a good idea to release him for the Blast), and then Cook is very much our last option if Woakes can’t make it

India was basically down to two wicket-taking bowlers in both Headingley and Edgbaston. (Bumrah & Siraj, then Akash & Siraj). It worked out last test, 17 wickets between Akash & Siraj, but not in the 1st test.

Fortunately there will be three genuine wicket takers in this test. Ideally there should be four but given the defensive mindsets of GG and Gill, it's as good as it gets.

Agree. The management refuses to treat him as a batting prospect even tho his numbers are comparable to any other young batters we have simply because he can wicketkeep as well. It's almost like Jurel is suffering from being too good at cricket.

Aus played Inglis as a pure bat so it can be done. Jurel is not a bad fielder.
