They have to look at the balls at some point, so just because they were doesn't mean that a declaration is imminent.
If they do declare without giving Mulder a chance to go for 400 then I may seriously consider switching allegiance to Australia. That's how unforgivavble it would be.

Absolutely. There's a reason that even against weaker sides we don't see a lot of triple hundreds. Regardless of the opposition, it's still a very difficult thing to do.

If so, not as much as me. I also say not 3. I also disagreed with your consensus of 7. Needs too much time to build an innings and should be higher. Traditional bats should be higher. If he ever gets himself in, he is gonna end up scoring too slowly until he starts running out of partners.
I'm not actually sure I'm wrong on this long term. But I was thinking that this game. And that is the most apocalyptically bad call imaginable for this one.

Even though the decision of when to declare isn't just up to the captain, he is the one who has to tell the umpires. Not that I think they're not going to let him go for it, this would be one time a player would be completely justified in going against the coach's wishes.
