2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

What a great test match for India not just a win but it answered so many questions ..

1.Karun Nair can be picked just for his slip fielding alone ..

2.Found Indias best seam attack in England going to 3rd Test Siraj - Deep - Bumrah

3.Washington Sundar is a great utility player in England

4.Shubman Gill , any doubts about his place have been absolutely destroyed now, everyone will be forced to respect him.

So from an Indian pov, the only places up for grabs appear to be Nair, NKR, and Prasidh. Bumrah has to be a straight swap for Prasidh. Think they'll keep NKR though I'd like to see KD. It's a 50-50 between Nair and Sai.

Nair will continue to play imo. Secure slip fielder as well so I think he'll get at least one more chance.

I wonder if we'll go bowling heavy next game. Jadeja at #6, Sundar at #7, bring Kuldeep in and you obviously have your pace trio.

If it's a road, I think the management might be tempted to do that. If it's a green top, I see only one change which is Bumrah coming in for Prasidh.

I'd be seriously looking at bringing Bethell for the next test, drop Tongue, Bashir and bring in Potts/Archer. Need to take this seriously now
The problem that Bethell has is that there are only 2 realistic vacancies in the team, Crawley getting dropped might be slightly more likely, but essentially both Crawley and Pope have only failed in one Test this series, they’ll surely get more rope

I know it’s a short turnaround, but after that performance, surely if you’re India you want to keep things much the same? I’d have been banging the drum for Kuldeep from the start if I were Indian, but now I think it’s hard to see a place for him in the team

Should be 2-0. India thoroughly outplayed us through the whole test. Gill was magnificent (apart from his captaincy making Alastair Cook look like a maverick) and Akash Deep changed the game.

Plenty of work for England to do. I'm expecting a much changed bowling line up for the next game with Tongue and Carse making way at the very least. We HAVE to pick a different spinner, and question marks have to be raised against ****ing Crawley again. I like the Crawley-Duckett dynamic but Duckett's pulling far too much of the weight. I also want to see Bethell in the side, just not sure where. I would bin Pope personally, still don't rate him, but think it's harsh. Looking forward to seeing Archer bowling on Thursday.

Whatever it takes!!!
What a win. What a day. :)

I think obviously Gill, Akashdeep and Siraj were immense. Jaiswal, Pant, Jaddu, Washy and Rahul played their parts as seniors now in this side. Karun is worth his place for his slip catching alone, but I do think he will make more runs once he figures out how to be tigher outside his offstump. Its how he would have made these big runs all these years. India, contrary to popular belief, does help swing a lot esp. in the early rounds of Ranji up north as our cricket season is almost exclusively during our winter. Prasidh improved as the game went on and while I wont pick him in the 11, it is very handy if he can keep improving as the seamer waiting in the wings. Still think he will be very useful in NZ as long as he keeps this improvement rate up. NKR did nothing basically. Ideally we would drop him for Kuldeep but we may need his swing bowling at Lords and he is pretty talented as a batsman. Just needs to figure out his tempo and how to start his innings.

Yeah the conundrum around the Kuldeep selection now that we'll have three potent seamers is whether we need his spin over Reddy's supposed batting potential. I believe KD adds an overwhelming positive to the side and having 4 genuine wicket-takers is anyday preferable to 3 and the rest making up the numbers. The batsmen are in great form. We don't need to hedge our bets anymore and should go for the kill.

I was deeply frustrated by Gill's captaincy but he looked more proactive then rohit has ever been so would take it. You guys really need Atkinson back esp for crase and archer would need to have serious comeback
