PlayerComparisons

Sachin will always be remembered as the better player. No point debating it tbh. No issues with them being considered close though. Just depends on how much you value longevity.

I have Sachin over Smith too and a mini tier ahead of him at that. But you can make the argument for Smith too imo.

it’s not blasphemy, it’s just not a thing in the real world
Smith has the greatest batting peak since Viv, and arguably Bradman

in that 2014-2019 phase, he made 6000 runs at the average of 75, and this didn't include him bashing minnows like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe 2000s. I get it, Sachin has better longevity yada yada yada, but Smith at peak was arguably the best ever and if one rates by peak it's easy to have him that high

If you're including white ball as well, then yeah there's no argument. But purely red ball? I don't think so.

As far as Red Ball Cricket is concerned, Sachin vs Smith is very close with Sachin pulling ahead due to longevity, I don't care what a Sachin cócksucker wants to believe about Sachin being a god and incomparable with other elite ATG bats, but folks, it is what it is.

Bradman is of course number 1, and you can make an argument for being above Tendulkar for each of the following imo:
Hobbs, Lara, Smith, Viv, Hutton and Sobers

Gill will end up with an even higher peak if he starts permanently playing on highways of England.

Likewise, Aussie pitches back then were highways too during his prime.

Averages are so very often a reflection of the kind of pitches being dished up!

Yes so even a Sachin skeptic like you rates him ahead of Smith, whereas the wider cricket community is more impressed with him. Hence Smith being a realistic threat to Sachins BAB claims is near zero.

Mhm, I remember the minefields Sachin had in Asia...

also, Smith was making runs everywhere

skeptic lmao, I rate the man at #3, I hate him having the most illiterate and braindead fanbase of any Cricketer. "Cricket bdfore 1990 suck!" "2014 forward was flat!", "2020s bats can't bat!" and an endless list of stupidity.

"Smith being better is just not real!" as if a person who holds Akram over Ambrose has the right to talk about what's real and what's not

He’s comparable to Hobbs, Sobers, Lara and Richards - not Smith. Smith wasn’t elite for long enough

There was no real red ball white ball segregation back in 90s. White ball tournaments were just as crucial as the 2 match test series.
