Peak Imran Khan imo is the greatest bowler of all time, with only Sydney Barnes havint an argument over him, the fire he bowled with has not been matched arguably, it's not like he was drowning in excellent support.

Especially away from home, you can't even make excuses about bottlecaps and he was still exceptional

Agreed. Hadlee during his peak also never had a great series in the WI. Which is a minor blemish.

His playing days global batting average was low. I think it was 25ish IIRC. So those numbers needs to be taken with a grain of sal.
I know, they come out to about 20 or smth when adjusted, same as Marshall, though Barnes has the freak feat of being a great bowler in his 50s that nobody ever did.

Hadlee played only 1 series in WI.
4 Tests. 15 wickets @ 27.

A decent record for someone with zero support and bowling to Gordon Greenidge, Desmond Haynes, Richie Richardson and the great Viv Richards.
Yeah certainly nothing to hold against him. And he bowled them to a series win in 1980 (at home). Still imo, Imran had the greatest peak ever.

Sorry @subshakerz we are not belittling imran here. Fyi imran was much loved in india as he was in pakistan. My older uncle is big fan of imran and has collections of imran's unique records. Imo just favor hadlee as he was lone warrior compered to imran who had sarfraz wasim and another bloke whose name i forgot( is analyst on geo news famous for conspiracy theory)

Wasim came in 86 somewhat later in his peak.

Sarfraz is probably same level as some of the NZ pacers that Hadlee had.

Though he did have Qadir and Qasim as spinners.

And those series returns only look a little less good in terms of wicket output because he basically didn't get to bowl in the second innings of two of the tests.
