I think Australia will hang onto the Ashes with a 3-2 or 2-2. I see the real problems happening 12 months later when an emerging NZ side replete with gifted youngsters crush Australia who will have Khawaja, Smith, Starc, Hazelwood, Boland, and Lyon all retire post Ashes retention.

NZ is and always has been basically an Australia 4th XI. If our best 33 players all retire it might be a contest
