English Domestic Season 2025

Jimmy the only person who chose to field on his captaincy debut with the Kookaburra.

Him and Ben sharing the same brain this week then
Not the first time this season Lancashire have won the toss and refused to bat and seen the runs pile up.
The problems did not begin and end with Benkenstein - who I suspect was sacked for his critical interview after the Leicestershire defeat rather than results.
Morley takes 6-55 today. He was considered surplus to requirements at Lancashire who had Hartley (not selected today) with Lancashire preferring to play their overseas one-day spinner.
Their first ever wooden spoon beckons.

In other news Berkshire almost managed to snatch victory against Dorset against all the odds. Dorset had been 213/1 after 40 overs. Needing just 55 from the final 10 overs by comparison Berkshire had been 199/8 off 40.1 overs. A six of the 3rd ball of the final over by Hampshire's Joseph Eckland (89 form 82 balls) saw Dorset home. Berkshire's belief and winning habit is a cut above other national counties at the moment.

CC and Blast to be both cut to 12 games.

The Hundred has won

Just pathetic.

I would actually support a 12 match CC but if its dealt right but the way they are ****ing their own competitions over for the flawed vanity project called the hundred is shameful to the extreme

So the ideas

- 12 team Division one (into two groups of 6) with a 2nd division of 6 counties
- T20 Blast to be reduced to 12 matches & it wrapped up before the 100
- Keep the County Championship as it is but reduce the games from 14 to 12
- 3 Conferences of 6 counties (Likely to be rejected)
- A mid season spilt (likely to be rejected)
- The existing structure (Likely to be rejected)

The reasoning for 14 to 12 is so they can split the one day cup into two and have 5 matches at the start of season and 5 when the 100 is on.

83% of Professional players want less cricket.

It's all a mess

They asked the wrong question here, because I too would like to do less work.

If the question was "Would you take a reduction in payment equivalent to the reduction in matches in order to play less cricket ? "

I don't think the answer would be 83%

Worcestershires bowling having a good time against Surrey

198-6, Surrey should get a lead but we have been given 5 penalty runs due to Santner reaction to getting run out.

Rehan has three hundred this season. If he's not bowling at least he's contributing. Maybe he could be a useful seven at test level.

Worcestershires top 6 batsman haven't scored a 50 in 6 innings

That alone shows we are going down and its a long and really hard season

Lancashire score 263 in the last post tea session against Kent to lead by 265.
The only reason I can think that they did not declare when Turner was out - which would have allowed 5 overs at Kent at the end of a long day - was that Anderson did not fancy bowling a couple of overs tonight.
They scored 34 extra runs in 7 overs including the last over which was Anderson attempted reverse sweeps, swinging and missing at 5 balls from a part time teenage bowler before finally managing a single off the last ball.
Surely the obvious thing to do would be push a single and allow the genuine batsman at the other end to face a few final balls!
Probably will not effect the result. Compton to bat all day.

Kent are 265 behind. An innings defeat is very likely.

3 more rounds of the pointless Kookaburra experiment to go after this.

Cheers Rob Key :wallbash:
I guess there was half a chance of a result in Durham but for yesterday's delays, although the morning session today suggests it was unlikely. A couple of tedious draws looking likely elsewhere in Div 1 and Worcs just being rubbish to force the only guaranteed result. Can Essex force a draw now the only thing of interest.

Surely this whole plan of his makes sense in junior cricket and perhaps Second XI(if this was taken seriously)

As how is getting John Simpson and Ben Raine playing with a Kookaburra ball much help for England.
