1st Test (Leeds) - 20th June

I want to give Gill the benefit of the doubt as this is his first test captaining. But some of his decisions were very questionable.

Also, another point not often touched on is the coaching. Of course it's the players' responsibility to go out and win, but could there be a lack of competence coming from the top? Take Gambhir, for example. A fine limited overs player, for sure, and one that has good rapport with the players. But his test record was average, generally speaking. If India lose this series by a huge margin, his job could be under threat. Would have liked to see VVS Laxman as coach.

anyone notice how Bumrah dropped off from day 1? on day 1 he seemed unplayable, but literally didn't get a batsman out day 2-day 5, only got Chris Woakes (a declining bowling all rounder) and Josh Tongue (#10).

I'm sorry but I can't imagine Lillee or Marshall just hanging around at the boundary as their team just sleepwalks into a loss. They would be demanding their captain to take the ball and have a crack at the bats. This is just defeatism
